Just a Little Tip about Kansas City

by DueSer

If you're having trouble finding a hotel/motel in Kansas City, try across the river into Kansas. You're still in a suburb of Kansas City so you're pretty close to everything you want to see and experience but you won't have the slightly higher prices of something right in the heart of the city.

Westin Crown Center: Kansas City's Crown

by ATXtraveler

During a recent business trip, we had an event that was being held at the Crown Center, which is located a couple miles outside of downtown Kansas City. The Crown Center is a shopping plaza and is associated with a famous KC business, Hallmark. The Westin is attached to the center, and the hotel shares common meeting rooms with the center.

As for the room, I would highly recommend asking when you check in to have a city view room, as the view was absolutely stunning of downtown KC. The bed is the traditional Heavenly Bed that Westin is famous for, and it absolutely lives up to its name. A great night sleep is within reach. My room had a balcony on it, which meant I could open up the door for an even more spectacular view of downtown.

The location is definitely convenient if you are doing anything near the Union Station of Crown Center. If you do not have transportation, there are a couple local transportation options, but it is not a convenient walk to downtown.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for when you are traveling through Missouri.

Hotels near Busch Stadium

by vanderlust

Since I live here I do not know the prices of the rooms at local hotels. I can list some of the hotels near the ball park. Each of the hotels below are within walking distance or less than one metro stop from Busch. There is a Metro station at Lambert Airport. If the hotel does not offer a shuttle you can catch the Metro at the airport and be less than three blocks from your hotel.

Comfort Suites, Rolla, Missouri: Best Place To Stay in Rolla, Missouri

by deecat

On the way to Arkansas, Allan and I stayed in Rolla, Missouri at the Comfort Suites. Allan and his buddies always stay here when on their way to fly fishing further south. So, we already knew that we would enjoy this hotel.

It's nicely located but difficult to find because of a "trickey" turn. So be careful.

Our room was a delight with a King-sized bed, no smoking, full-sized Desk, hair dryer, lazyboy chair, great 27" colored TV, free high speed internet access, and free morning newspaper.

We espeically enjoyed the huge, soft, fluffy towels!

The bed was firm and comfortable, just like home.

This is an excellent moderat-priced hotel that we both highly recommend.

This hotel has 73 spacious rooms, really suites. Each suite has a Cordless telephone, a Dataport Connection on Suites Desk Phones, a refrigerator and microwave, and free local calls.

The hotel has a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna. The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, real juices, toast, bagels, waffles that you make yourself, hot coffee and tea, and cold cereals.
And, it's all FREE!

When in Rolla, Missouri, be sure to stay at the Comfort Suites!

Comfort Suites: Perfect Location for Visiting St. Charles Main St

by deecat

PLEASE NOTE THAT PRICE IS PER PERSON!
Photo is from brochure

On the way back home from Arkansas in October of 2005, we drove from Bella Vista Village, Arkansas to St. Charles, Missouri and stayed in the Comfort Suites St. Charles/St. Louis, Missouri. What a marvelous choice on our part. It's location is just perfect...about 1/2 mile from the historic downtown and the Casino.

We belong to the Choice Privileges program and the program for seniors so we paid $75.00 for a suite with two queen beds, a desk, sofa, refrigerator, and microwave in the main rooms and a large, well-equipped bathroom.

In addition, there was a FREE Deluxe Continental Breakfast that serves eggs, sausage, waffles, cereals, fruit, and muffins along with juices and coffee.

This hotel had a lovely indoor pool and a guest Laundry. There was also a business room with computer, printer, fax, and scanner for guest's use. All you had to do was ask for the key to the room at the main desk. There was a nice fitness Center that was well equipped.

In our room, there was a hair dryer, a coffee maker, and an iron and ironing board. The color TV provided hundreds of free stations, and mints were left on the bed each night.

For a medium-priced hotel, the services and special features were excellent.

Drury Plaza: Nice Staff, Comfy Beds, Great Location

by snowhawk

the room as a little smallish, but that was okay, the staff was very nice and had plenty of tips to offer on dining in the area. Room had a great view of the old Courthouse and was located only 1 block from the St. Louis Arch. Breakfast was served every morning, it was reasonably good, especially considering it was free.

Hyatt Regency Crown Center: A Hotel with a History

by Bwana_Brown

The meeting venue was at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, located in the downtown core of Kansas City. This 45 storey 500 foot high building was built in 1980 and still has a very impressive lobby with a nearby elevated area where I had my breakfasts.

In fact, maybe they got a little too fancy with the architecture because, on July 17, 1981, two 180-foot interior skybridges collapsed due to the weight of people enjoying a function at the hotel. The result was 111 dead and 188 injured in one of the deadliest hotel disasters in American history.

That being said, I found the services and room themselves to be first rate. The hotel has a full health club (free weights, exercise cycles, steppers, stair climbers and rowers), an all-weather pool, whirlpool & sauna as well as two lighted tennis courts. If the weather is not cooperating, there is a glass-enclosed walkway to the nearby Crown Center shopping complex as well as Union Station.

Restaurant prices are not cheap and I paid US$119 per night (US$137 with taxes).

Doll House in Rhineland: Grandma's Bedroom

by misscabbage

Well, if you like cute, this is the place. With bedrooms in themes like teddy bears and angels, this is my aunt's dream house. However, it was all a little too "white doily" for me. Also, there aren't many places to eat. in the town and Rhineland...just isn't that interesting. Still, there aren't a lot of options for accomodation along this stretch, and it's a decent place to stay and the breakfast is nice

Red Brick Inn in Augusta: Luxury for the Biker

by misscabbage

This place isn't the cheapest, but it's a great place to stay if you're finishing in Augusta instead of going all the way to the trail head. The town is packed full of wineries and day-trip fun.
Take the time to soak in the hot tub and relax in a big terry-cloth robe with a local beer.

Hot tub. Great atmosphere and friendly people. Good food. Hot tub.

The Globe: Hartsburg's Best

by misscabbage

With a warm atmosphere, Jeanette's kind service, and good food to set you on your way in the morning, this small B&B is the perfect stop on your trail.

Refurbished 19th century building, close to Hartsburg's great cycle shop and Thornhill winery. Easy to access on bike or car. Check out the gourds next door.
