"Joplin Missouri - The Cutting Edge of Mediocrity"
In recent years, it has come to my attention that the United States is becoming nothing more than a collection of mid-sized cities with exactly the same things in them. No matter what part of the country you're in, you can stay at exactly the same type of place, shop in the same type of stores, and eat in the same type of restaurants. Our cities are all beginning to look the same and feel the same. Joplin is a tribute to this mediocre uniformity. There's nothing really wrong with it - it doesn't have much crime, the cost of living is remarkably low, employment is abundant... But Joplin is just too normal. There's nothing terribly unique about it and we don't have a Golden Gate Bridge or an Alamo to hang our hats on. So if you decide to visit, just kick back, relax, and savor the "normalcy".
