If you need a hotel in Kansas City near the Country Club Plaza and the Westport area, this hotel is a good option. It is about five blocks from the Plaza and four blocks from Westport. The format is the same as for all Embassy Suites (i.e., a large, open, multifloor courtyard), so if there is noise, you get to share it. However, you do have the option to retreat to the bedroom and close the door.
This particular hotel is older (built in the mid-1970's) but has been reasonably well maintained. The suites were spacious and clean. My mattress did tilt to one side; I am guessing it has been there a while. The price included a hot breakfast and eight tickets to use at the evening social hour. The breakfast was excellent with fresh cooked omeletes, etc. available. The staff were friendly and helpful. I did not try the hotel restaurant since there are so many other good restaurants in the area.
Unique Quality: The location was great but is there anything else unique about an Embassy Suites hotel?
Directions: Near 43rd and Broadway
Average hotel room is about $120, however the rooms comfortably sleep 6, so if you have a group going it can be a big money-saver.
Unique Quality: Okay, so the reason I like this place is not only are the rooms well-equipped, but from 5:30 to 7:30, there is a complimentary happy hour where you can drink whatever your pleasure is for free in the hotel bar area. Great way to start your pre-party!
