You must make a special trip to the Plaza just to photograph and be photographed with the droolers. The Seville Light fountain is located on Country Club Plaza across the street from the Cheesecake Factory. The KCfountains.org website states that this fountain was designed "to be an exact replica of the Plaza de Los Reyes fountain in Seville, Spain."
One of the many places where you might hear live music in the metro area is in the entry way and food court of the Crown Center Shops. It may be a barber shop quartet, an elementary school choir, or it may be some of KC's professional jazz musicians. You never know who you might hear performing, there might be some old guy who played here with Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Bennie Moten, etc.
Brush Creek runs just south of the Country Club Plaza. The creek is a fancy drainage ditch, but it is well landscaped and passes some beautiful homes and buildings. Near the Plaza, large fountains offer a relaxing backdrop to the mediterannean architecture. If you follow the paved walkways to the west, beyond the Plaza, you find yourself in the middle of a neighborhood of nice homes and shady trees. Make sure you take a minute to look at the Santa Fe Trail sculpture next to the Fairmont Hotel - the landscaping around it has plants that are native to Santa Fe. Also make sure you say hello to the sculpture of Mr. Winston Churchill on the Broadway St. Bridge.
This is a nice small town on the banks of the Missouri River. The town main street is only a couple of blocks, but the structures are from early 1900's, and quaint. It was founded in 1851 by a Shawnee Indian and named the town after the daughter. With the purchase of 774 acres by German immigrants in 1857, the town grew and the river was its commerce as well as farming. They now number 7,000 people today, and little changes.
Great jazz club. Kansas City is one of the 5 most important jazz/blues capitals in America (along with New York, Memphis, Chicago and New Orleans).
Go on a Friday or Saturday during the tremendous Jam Session.
