Travel Tips for Kansas City
Meyer Circle Fountain

One of my favorite Kansas City Fountains is in the middle of this traffic circle at the intersection of Ward Parkway and Meyer Blvd. It has one of the largest flows of water of any KC fountain.
Now that Ward Parkway is a major thoroughfare linking the Plaza with South Kansas City, most people fly past here going 50 mph or more. In order to appreciate the fountain, you really should stop. After a series of bizarre and tragic traffic accidents here, there seems to be a move afoot to close off the traffic circle - or even move the fountain to a location where it might be better appreciated.
Kansas City Royals Baseball

Kansas City has it's own professional baseball team, the Kansas City Royals. They play at Kauffman stadium which holds about 47,000 people. Baseball is a great American pastime. There is just something about sitting in the stadium, eating a good hotdog with some roasted peanuts on the side, and watching your hometeam up to bat that you cannot describe.
The stadium shares the Truman Sports Complex with Arrowhead stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs professional football team.
Tickets for a Royals game start at around $10 for the upper tier. Parking is around $6.00.
The National Frontier Trails...

The National Frontier Trails Center is at 318 W. Pacific Ave. in Independence. All over Kansas City you will see signs on the road showing where the old trails crossed the area. Here you can learn about that. One display had diary and journal entries from people who crossed the prairie. A display for children had a small wagon so they could see how pioneers packed goods for the long journey. The kids would pack the little wagon with food and things they felt they would need as pioneers.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City is at 11th and Central in KC, MO. To tell the truth, I just liked this building. I have not been to an opera there yet. Never been to an opera any place yet. I'll go to one some day. There are many places in Kansas City to see an opera, symphony, or play.
BBQ!!

KC has the best BBQ. I may be a little bias b/c I spent my high school years in that town.
Fiorella's is good for both the both food and location. Actually they have several locations, but I prefer the one downtown. It is located right next to rail tracks and the renovated Union Station. The actual building the restaurant is in is kinda neat.
Also, if you have no desire to go to KC, they do mail order. I did it for Superbowl last year. Worth the cash. You can BBQ anything and it will taste good.
