great stay for the price
by Laurasal76
I stayed here August 9th and it was well worth the price. The two girls working the front desk were very helpful. Although later on in the evening i called about my ac not working and the guy working was very rude.

Travel Tips for Saint Joseph
A Wealth of Churches and Church Types
by mrclay2000
St Joseph is full of old churches from many denominations, yet where some are not endowed with wonderful stained glass or extensive sanctuaries, others have towering spires that mark their positions anywhere in the city. Red brick, quarried stone, and manifold details make St Joseph a interesting study even when speaking for its churches alone. Many of its examples rival almost every other church throughout the United States.
Before the Transcontinental
by mrclay2000
Before the railroad linked the coasts in 1869, one of the few unbroken connections between the Mississippi River and the West Coast came through the Pony Express. Young riders would pitch through relatively unpopulated country where unknown dangers and hostile tribes often overlapped their routes, but in the history of the circuit precious few packages were ever lost. In 1940, the Pony Express monument rose at 9th and Frederick to commemorate this historical heritage.
Visit the Patee House Museum....
by NorineP
Visit the Patee House Museum. Patee House was originally built in 1858 as a hotel. It also served as the headquarters for the Pony Express. Among its many exhibits, you can see the restored Pony Express office.
The museum is open year round, but only on Saturdays and Sundays (November - March). Admission is $4.00 adults, $3.50 seniors, $2.50 students, under 6 years - free.
City Hose Company No. 9
by mrclay2000
Still a working fire station (still No. 9) on Frederick Avenue, this ancient wonder is over 100 years old, worthy in its own right to grace the National Register of Historic Places. Although slight of frame and rising only two stories, the old features of bay window and wooden interior are all that's left of a field where fire station horses were grazed and stables and wagons were kept.
St Joseph home interiors
by mrclay2000
As stated before, many of the Victorian and other mansions in St Joseph are privately owned by businesses or individuals. The Miller-Porter-Lacy House was first confused by this author for a museum (since one sits next door in another mansion). The present owner was gracious enough to show off the historic interior and the embellishments made by previous owners over the past century. The chandelier over the main dining room once graced the main hall in the Hotel Robidoux downtown, a flagship structure torn down in the early 1980s.
