Recently stayed 5 nights and came away very disappointed. My family and I stay at the Hilton Garden Inns whenever there is one available, but we will not be returning to this particular Garden Inn as it is below the expected standards which we have come to expect from these establishments.
We travel on cash only (in order to avoid overspending and going crazy on the credit cards) and after paying almost $500 for the room we were informed (for the first time) that we needed to put down a $125 deposit to cover room service, local calls (.75), and other items. After speaking with the manager we were finally allowed to put down $25 per night that would be checked daily. Would have been nice to know this up front in order to plan for it. Upon checkout we had difficulties getting the $25 back as they put our information in to the computer incorrectly.
HGI is known for the sleep number beds and we love these beds, however the beds at this location DO NOT work. They appear to be a knock off version of the original. Every other HGI that we have stayed at has had exceptional beds, the type you don't want to get out of. Not this location, no one got a single "good night's" sleep on these beds.
Cleanliness seems to be an issue at this location also. In our room upon checkin we were short toilet paper and there were items still on the floor from the last guests. In the vending/ice room we witnessed a plate on top of the ice machine from Saturday evening until we left on Tuesday.
Cookies. If you have stayed at HGI before you know that they offer cookies in the afternoon, not here. Of the 5 nights we stayed my children were able to get cookies 1 time. Either they didn't make enough or none at all (our first night they didn't make any).
The pool was broke down from Saturday until we left on Tuesday, if you have kids you understand this frustration. And management made no attempt to ease our pain in this matter.
The neighborhood. Not that there is one close. There is absolutely NOTHING close to this hotel. Being new it is understandable (Built in Jan. 09). If you want a hotel that is close to anyplace to dine or anything to do, don't stay here. The closest neighborhood is not the best, to say the least.
Don't get me wrong I love HGI, but I will never stay at this location again. We stay at HGI's knowing that we give up "free breakfasts" in order to have the luxury of the beds and rooms, not at this location. The beds are horrible (rock hard and not adjustable), the management doesn't keep the place in check (extremely loud at 1 - 3 AM), and it is simply not up to the standards of a HGI.
Unique Quality: One good thing that we experienced during our stay, the only good thing at this HGI, was the bartender. I didn't get his name , but he was an older gentleman who treated us with respect, talked to our children, and actually did the job that the waitress in the Great American Grill decided not to do (wait on us).
