Ramada Inn at the Arch: Ramada Inn at the Arch
My room with a queen bed was about $90 (tax included) a night.
Unique Quality: Decent room at a decent price. Only two elevators led to some waiting to go up and down.
I had a great view of the arch from my room!

I am going to plug this place...
I am going to plug this place even though they were full up the particular weekend that we were in town:(.....only because I love architecture and history. We do intend to take a trip back out sometime in the near future to give it a go ourselves! They are located in nearby Alton, Illinois.

There are plenty hotels and...
There are plenty hotels and motels to stay at. I usually travel to St. Louis on business, so I have NOT traveled here on a strict budget. It you have the funds, they have some nice hotels in downtown St. Louis, especially the one's next to Union Station. Westport is loaded with more moderately priced hotels.

Personally, I always boarded...
Personally, I always boarded with my relatives. I know there is an American Youth Hostel in the Soulard section of St. Louis. It is cheap.
I'm guessing but I say around $20 to $30. I could be over pricing.
Unique Quality: Also Bush's Brewery is near there (Great place to visit for Christmas Lights). If you like the party atmosphere Soulard's comes alive for Mardi Gras (Gross Understatement). During the summer Soulard's Market is a great place to visit and shop.
