In St. Louis, in general, west is better. But, yeah, it depends on what she's going to be doing there because you don't want to be too far from where you need to be there.

Hard to say without more information. My answer would be very different depending on if your daughter is in college, single in her 20's, or married with kids. It would also depend on what area she'd be going to school or working in.

Here are some websites to review:

If it fits her situation, you might also want to Google search for St. Charles county (NW & West of StL.), Jefferson County (South of StL), and the Illinois cities of Columbia, Belleville, Fairview Heights, and Edwardsville (East of StL).

Travel Tips for Saint Louis

Budweiser Rules. Accept It!

by AKtravelers

St. Louis is still Budweiser's town. Despite the proliferation of microbreweries in the US since the 1990's and the increased availability of imports, you will still end up in situations where Anheuser Busch products are the only brews available. This happened to me surprisingly often during my week in St. Lous -- at a wedding, at a Cardinals' game and at family gatherings. There is a microbrewery that's gained some popularity -- it's called Schlafley's and is served rather widely -- including at it's own brewery-restaurant in the trendy Maplewood section, where they remind you that it was the first new brewery in Missouri since Prohibition ended -- but even most of it's beers remind one of Budweiser.
Since I'm not a big fan of Bud, Bud Light, Busch or any of the other beers (hey, what happened to Micheloeb?), I kept looking for this situation to change. Luckily, most bars have imports like Guinness, Bass or even Pilsner Urquell on draft, but you can't count on getting a pint of these like you can a cold frosty Bud. and if you like Miller or Coors, well, I don't even think they exist in St. Louis. certainly not at the stadium!

Take the tour of the Anheuser-Busch Factory!! It is so much fun. You are allowed to enter into the Clydesdale stables, view the bottling process and the best part is the hospitality room at the end of the tour. You can taste several of their tasty brews! My fondest memory of course...was hanging out with my college buddy again!!

Downtown - "Bank of America Plaza" (1981)

by yooperprof

The Bank of America Plaza is an attractive and shiny 31-story skyscraper at 8th and Market, on the Gateway Mall. Built at a time in the early 1980s when plate glass was "in" and trendy, the building makes a good presence because it is not located right on the street, and it respects its neighbors without trying to overwhelm them. (It reminds me in some ways of I.M. Pei's John Hancock building in Boston.0 The architect/design firm was 3D/International.

Yes, summers are HOT and HUMID

by WaywardHoosier

In summer, get ready to sweat! Out of town family members whine about the heat and humidity constantly. Bring allergy medication! ST. Louis is ranked in the top 5 for allergies because of the humidity and deciduous forests. We sneeze a lot! Beach? What beach? They call them beaches but they are shallow areas on rivers or man-made beaches on small, stinky lakes.

20 Miles South of St. Louis

by rexyracer

About 20 miles south of St. Louis is a small town called Kimswick. Off the beaten path, but worth going. Suggest going to Blue Owl for brunch, shopping the small crafty shops for a few hours, then hit Frankie Giannino's (55 & Main Street) in Imperial for the best Italion meal you will ever have
