Indoor pools

by tarheel65

Are there any motels/hotels in the St. Louis area that feature an indoor pool with a slide, kiddie pool, hot tub, etc. for a family vacation?

There are many. First one that comes to mind is the Radisson near the airport. It has a large indoor pool area. What part of town are you wanting to stay in? I think you will find most of the larger hotels have indoor pools here.

Travel Tips for Saint Louis

Union Station Renewed ...

by shrimp56

The center of St. Louis is, of course, the magnificent soaring arch -- but don't miss the renovated great hall of the former Union Station, now a Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Downtown - S.G. Adams/Bell Telephone Bldg. (1891)

by yooperprof

This was originally the HQ of the Bell Telephone Company in St. Louis; now it is loft apartments, with a nifty small grocer on the ground floor. The building is in a fascinating version of the American Romanesque style of the 1890s, with prominent rounded arches on the fourth and sixth floors. Interestingly, it was designed by the Architectural firm of Shepley Rutan & Coolidge, the successor company to H. H. Richardson.

Gooey Butter Coffee Cake

by meccostaud

This cake is a St Louis food phenomenon and it is completely addictive. Here is a recipe for it given to me by my friend Deb:

Ingredients:
1 stick of butter (softened)
4 eggs
1 yellow cake mix w/pudding
1 8 oz Philadelphia Cream Cheese (softened)
1 box of powdered sugar (save 1/4 - ½ cup for topping)

Combine(mix) cake mix, butter and 2 eggs. Spread cake mixture in bottom of a greased / floured 9 x 13 pan.

Combine(mix) cream cheese, powdered sugar and 2 eggs and pour over cake mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees (preheated) for approx 20 - 30 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.

Sprinkle saved powdered sugar on top after baking.

Enjoy.

Go to gym next day and climb on treadmill.

Repeat.

Cardinals Baseball Tickets

by changeinlatitude

Yes, believe it our not there are tickets out there to be purchased for the 2006 season. If you go to the Cardinals website you will find there are quite a few games with seating available. The prices range from $16.00 for bleachers seats up to $230 for Cardinal Club seating. I looked from May through October and if you are quick you can get on the games and enjoy the new statium. I also understand that Season Ticket holders sell their tickets to games that unable to attend. If you go to the Single Game Ticket section on the website, the information is there under "Prime Seat Club".

I haven't been there yet, but from what I understand, it is SPECTACULAR.

Also, if you are coming to the game from out of town, check our my tip on the Westin. It is right across from the stadium and I LOVED staying there.

Castlewood

Beautiful state park in St. Louis. My sister and I went hikking here. It's an easy hike, it took us about 2 hours with a lunch break. At the top of a cliff we could see the river and train tracks below in the valley. Then we hikked to the bottom and walked along the river. Not many people were around. Near the main road are picnic talbes, playgrounds, and volleyball pits where large groups of people were having their family reunions and summer parties though.
