Vacation in St. Louis Area
by hhawkins
I am a travel writer for www.BransonAndBeyond.com and will be in the area for a full week at the end of May. I will be in town with my wife and 2 year old son.
I hope to cover the “biggies” in St. Louis like the Zoo and Science Center. But I do not want to miss any gems. Hoping some local can give me some great suggestions.
Also, looking to do a couple day trips that are within 1 hour of St. Louis. Any good insight?
We enjoy the tourist type stuff, but also like historical as well.

Of course, you can't miss going to the Arch. Did you know there's a very good history museum inside it? People like to tour the Bud plant, which is very historical, too. I recommend City Museum and our art museums. Mo. Botanical Gardens is a must. Check out my pages on St. Louis, if you wish. With a two yr. old, you might enjoy Grant's Farm and the Magic House. that's just a start!!

Travel Tips for Saint Louis
Tale of 2 cities
by TinKan
I found this to be a very friendly city with loads of history and a diverse culture.
I have never seen so many churches in and around a city as I had found here in St Louis.
There are plenty of places to eat and they even have casinos there for that sudden need to play blackjack.
The Joy of seeing this City..
by Sweetberry1
I walked around a lot, never saw so many hotels, so close together. The Arch sure was a beautiful sight, Wowww.. the size of it was scary, I remember wishing I had company to share all this with. I had coffee and a light snack at a nice cafe, leisurely walk through Forest Park, enjoying being here, just people-watching. I guess it was the wonderful feeling of being here, a place I thought I knew so much about, and yet, I knew nothing at all... I would have to say the Sheer Beauty, and Enormity of this city.
UC - Delmar Loop - Community Music School
by yooperprof
The Community Music School is affiliated with Webster University and is home to musical events of all kinds throughout the year. It's located at the western end of the Delmar Loop in what was once a synagogue.
NCAA Final Four

In 2005 many high school friends from Vermont met me in St. Louis for a weekend we will never forget. It was a weekend any sports fan would have appreciated. We hung out at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park on the Mississippi River under the Gateway Arch. It was absolutely amazing. We could not get tickets to the final game because Illinois was a final team but we landed ourselves at Show Me's a great bar/restaurant located in the heart of downtown (two thumbs up). GO HEELS!!!!!
Romance in the park
by d.r.l.
Not sure how off the path this is, but most visitors don't likely know of it. I'm sure everyone knows we have a great art museum. Little known by visitors is the beauty and mystery of Art Hill and the surrounding "Forest Park." Walk straight down the hill towards the lake outside of the museum and you will find....beautifully arched bridges perfect for kissing, huge oak trees to picnic or nap under, beautiful scenery, walking trails through romantic surroundings (not a hike for exercise). You can find many special moments here very unexpectedly. There is also a boathouse offering paddle boats, row boats -or take a ride in an italian inspired setting in your own guided gondola with a basket of wine and cheese. The boathouse also has a restaurant and has music from time to time. Even if it's just you, take a great book & a pillow, take your bike, or just take your camera. In winter you can enjoy it as well, but you may need a sled and a heavy coat - not quite the same as far as romance, but fun for the kiddies.
