Another Hotel Nearby Hyat t Regency

by mnasser

I'll be in St. Louis for the International Conferences for Business Incubation April 29-May 4 and since i've never been to St. Louis before I have no idea what hotels will be close to where I have to be. I'm looking for a clean and nice motel/hotel that's near the Hyatt Regency on One St Louis Union Station. I would extremely really appreciate the help and guide.. Thanks

1. First look up the address of Union Station...well, I did that for you - it's "1 St. Louis Union Station, St. Louis, MO".

2. Go to www.yahoo.com and click on Maps.

3. Enter the address and city/state. If you are asked, choose the new Beta version of Yahoo maps.

4. You should now see a map of St. Louis, centered on Union Station. It's in that grey space with the tracks on the south side. It's probably marked with an "A". Zoom in if you need to.

5. On the left hand side of Yahoo, click on Travel & Transit, then click on Hotels and Motels...and all the hotels/motels nearby will appear...I leave it to you to decide which ones you like...

Sorry, I can't help you more, since the only hotel I've been in the neighborhood is the Hyatt itself...

The Omni is a bit further away, but still within walking distance. It's a glorious old hotel, if that's of interest to you. And with the Metrolink stop at Union Station, you could even stay at one of the hotels on the riverfront and take the train to Union Station.

Travel Tips for Saint Louis

There are many wonderful...

by jandris

There are many wonderful sights to see in St. Louis, but my favorite is Shaw's Gardens, a very large and world-famous botanical garden. The best months to visit St. Louis are April, when all the spring flowers are abloom, and October, when the fall colors are at their peak.

Downtown - "Schupp" Building (1896)

by yooperprof

The "Schupp" Building, at the corner of 4th and Pine Street downtown, exemplifies the popular Beaux Art style that was especially prevalent in St. Louis in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It has been well-preserved and renovated by its current owner, a company that specialized in promotion and advertizing. Originally, this was the "Mississippi Valley Trust" building, but it has gone through numerous owners and uses since its 1896 opening.

Where'd you go to school?

by Sunshine64

One annoying custom of many people who grew up in St. Louis is to ask every new person they meet, "Where'd you go to school?"

When I first encountered this questions, I answered with the name of the college from which I graduated - since I was in my early 20's. But, I soon found out these people wanted to know where I went to High School! It's all part of a not-so-covert method of finding out if you're worthy. Whatever.

Since I moved to St. Louis after college, I wasn't familiar with this custom. But when my brother moved there, 5 or 6 years later, I prepared him. He was smart enough to answer with the name of the High School in the most dangerous part of the city : )

Go to a Baseball Game at Busch Stadium

by Sunshine64

.... while it still is Busch Stadium.

I grew up watching the Cardnials on TV and listening to them on the radio, but there is nothing like a game in Busch Stadium. People in St. Louis take their sports seriously - and have fun at the games. This is a stadium where people know their baseball and their beer. You will hear the crowd cheer for a single pitch.

The new Busch Stadium offers great views. This view is from seats above first base / left field.

You can bring your on drinks and snacks into the ballpark - just not alcohol.

Johnsons Shut-ins SP

by Toughluck

Johnson's Shut-ins is located southwest of St. Louis. Bismarck is the 'larger' town nearby. Even then, you'll have to get a local map and wander several miles (maybe 10 m - 16 km). It's actually near Centerville on State Routes 21 & 72.
