My two favorite things are...
by brdwtchr
My two favorite things are Bass Pro Shop and Fantastic Caverns. Crystal cave is interesting also. East of town is a drive through animal park. Springfield has a zoo on the North edge of town beside the fair grounds. This photo is from inside of Fantastic Caverns. Being there when the trees were changing to Autumn colors. We just don't get that kind of scenery in most of Kansas where I live.
Dickerson Park Zoo
by mrclay2000
The zoo is an economical diversion for the whole family, having a wide variety of animals on display in nice, natural habitats. Admission is nominal, only $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children under 12 (those 2 and under are free). The entire walk through the zoo is only 1.25 miles. Strollers and other aids are available at the gate. Closed only New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, the zoo is open all-year round with operating hours slightly varying depending on the season.
Mediterranean Food
by Moustique about Agrario
I have only eaten here once and it was delightful. it was in the middle of the week so it wasnt very crowded, on the weekends is a different story though. What is really cool about this place is they use local produce and try to do as much business locally as possible
Thier wine list was recognized by Wine Spectator, it contains a list of wines for $20
According to417 magazine readers is was voted bes salad in town.
They also have the bodega bar that serves spanish tapas. Prawns stuffed with procuitto--Wonderful!!!

Oldest Sanctuary Still in Use
by mrclay2000
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the sanctuary of the Christ Episcopal Church first saw its worshipping congregation in this building on New Year's Eve, 1870. The local chapter had existed since 1859. Apart from the few additions and enlargements to the church overall, the original nave stands much today as it appeared when first constructed.
