The first major building of Drury College and said to be the first stone building in Springfield, the chapel of Drury College was begun in 1880 from a gift of $50,000 from a private donor. Listed on the National Register of Historic Sites, it is the most notable of the college buildings and a landmark of present-day Springfield.
