Go to Bass Pro Shops on Campbell and Sunshine and to Fantastci Caverns on Hwy 13, north of town. Whenever I am away from Springfield, I miss Southwest Missouri State University, where I am currently a Sophmore in the Teacher Education program.
We got to the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield just as they were feeding the otters. We had fun watching these guys scramble for their fish. The zoo is on north side of town near the fairgrounds. Can see it from I-44 but will have to take one of the exits and go back to the zoo on a frontage road I can't remember the name of.
Gilardi's Ristorante (Italian cuisine)
Not your average southern missouri restaurant. Expect to pay about $20-$30 per person. I've only been there once so far, but everything we ordered was exceptional. My favorite things were the tomato cream soup appetizer and the vanilla bean eggless custard. The soup was amazing and the custard was criminal.
Seafood lovers welcome to the buffet of all buffets!!! Hemingway's is part of the biggest Bass pro store in the world and the buffet is there to match it. It is nicely decorated and part of the restaraunt gives you a nice view of the store. you cant go wrong with a seafood buffet including lobster and crawfish
Love the out-of-doors but hate hunting and never took up fishing? Wolves, raccoons, turkeys, white-tail and mule deer, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, black and grizzly and polar bears, and pronghorn antelope (whether in whole or in part) are waiting in natural stands and displays for your hopeful lens. . . and these are just the stuffed animals in the Bass Pro Shops.
