A property adjacent to and associated with the Walnut Street Inn, the Cottage Inn is operated by the same proprietors, so although the rooms and furnishings mary vary slightly, the care and reception provided by the staff come from the same professionals.
There are hotels aplenty in Springfield but beware... the Nationals draw 2000 cars for their show alone and it occurs on Memorial Day weekend (end of May) so the motels will be BOOKED SOLID!!! You must call way in advance and you may end up staying in a surrounding town if you're not early enough in getting a reservation. If you have a camper or a tent you'll be in great shape LOL
My wife and I stay at the Welcome Inn on Highway 13. It is North of Springfield about 20 minutes near Bolivar. We like it for several reasons. It is reasonably priced, it is close to Fantastic Caverns, and a friend of mine owns it. I realize that the fact a friend of mine owns the place may mean my opinion is not unbiased so I am letting that be known.
Prices vary depending on room size. A small single room is about $25 and it goes up from there.
Conveniant for an early morning visit to Fantastic caverns before heading into Springfield and the Bass Pro Shop.
