Indian Pictograph Caves
by Dymphna1
4 miles south of Billings are pictograph caves. These are early drawings. There are actually 3 different caves. There are two you can get close to and the 3rd requires binoculars. The first cave is where the pictures really are. The second you can't see much of without binoculars. The third is the Ghost Cave where some have said they found stuff in pictures ... I didn't get any funny pictures. But as my son and I turned to walk away I saw he was stepping over a snake. I yelled before I could process it was only a garden snake. (There are rattlers out there.) He rolled his eyes at me and said it was just a garden snake. At which point I heard what could be laughter coming from the cave. It was probably an echo from my scream - but the other sounds more fun. LOL
Around Billings

"I don't recommend this place."
I thought it made a good picture. But this is a rough bar! Also the boarded up place next to it was the cause of the one lynching in Billings. Two tramps came in and order a drink, the bar tender gave them the drink. They ordered a second round and he served them. Then when they ordered the third round he asked to get paid first. They at that point killed the man. But they were seen by other patrons and the bar tender was a well liked man. They chased the tramps out and one got away, but the second did not. They hung him from a telegraph pole. When the sheriff found out he was quite upset, "You are from Montana, you should know that the knot goes on the left side of the neck!" The body was left on the pole for a full day as a warning to others who tried such things. Until the pole came down years later, some say that you could see the body up there at times, swinging in the wind.
"More from the rims"
Photos taken from the rims. Driving home with this sky line is something I can't explain. As you look out the tension drains from you. I could never live back east, I would miss my wide open sky.
