all water sports and hiking
Lake Como is THE place to go on a hot summer day. Well the river is nice too but Lake Como is the place to go to kayak, canoe, sail, jetski, swim, fish, hike, camp, and sunbathe. One thing you do need is a day pass which you have to buy in Hamilton before you leave town. Cost $2.
DARBY, MONTANA. HOWDY STRANGER!
About a twenty minute drive south on Highway 93 from Hamilton, sits the quaint western town of Darby. Boardwalks are here as well as spirited western shops and Native American arts and crafts. Worth the drive just for the scenery.
"Arriving From the North"
I may have all this mixed up, being on foot at the time - nothing to do with the Rainbow Bar at all.
Anyway here's some views:
"West - yep I'm sure!"
But note one thing - every view has mountains in the background.
The East and West views catch the single-mindedness of the Bitteroot Valley, the road ribbons with the small towns: Lolo, Victor then Hamilton, staking their individual claims, yet becoming part and parcel of this up-and-coming area of Montana. After Hamilton though, this all starts to fade away - I presume a few will disagree with me here, but unless you go across from the US 93 across to the Interstate 15 you will have to take in a chunk of Eastern Idaho - this is not necessarily a bad thing, but to be written up elsewhere.
