It is an ok hotel. It is an older structure, but seems to be fairly well maintained. It seems to meek expectations for the brand, but doesn’t exceed them. They are located on the main street of town, and like others they offer winter packages. By far, the most glowing recommendation I have ever heard is by the former seasonal employee from 5 years ago.
Like everyone in town, rates vary based on time of year, $49-$220, and I generally don’t recommend booking a room in town that goes for less than $167 unless you know what your getting.
As for their tours, seems their customers are happy, dont know if they are average or slightly above.

I worked at the Brandin' Iron Inn for summer season 2005 and do highly recommend it. Mention AAA/AARP (if you're a member of either) during peak season and be prepared to show your card, bring along your AAA book if you have it. The Inn is locally owned and not a chain, the owners also operate tours into the park and winter snowmobile and snowcoach packages can give you significant discounts. Basic vibe of the hotel: laid back and pleasant with clean rooms. There are two big hot tubs that are infrequently used. Laundry room facilities are on premisis/ quarters at front desk. Stamps are sold at the counter and mail out box there too. If you're booking a room with a single bed Kings are the same rate as a Queen but a first come basis as there aren't many of them. Special (very nice) kitchenette rooms are available and are spacious, two have sofa sleepers as well, they are sectioned in the daylight basement so if stairs are an issue check elsewhere. Prices do change depending on time of year, June thru August are the most expensive. Try to call to reserve rooms as the online reserve system still isn't working great. During peak season try to reserve at least the day before as the ENTIRE town books up early in the evening!!

Pony Express is a sister hotel and a great bargain (see tip for Pony Express). It's also a decent place to work if you're looking to stay and play for a season and I'd be happy to give you relocation help with that, just drop me a message.

I had the pleasure of inhabiting a little yellow cabin for three months working at the front desk of The Brandin Iron Inn in W. Yellowstone, Montana. I am wishing that I'd taken more photos while there as the park is huge and the nature varied. I'll be working on updating this page and hope that it provides helpful and/ or inspiring information for you.
