Check out Whitney lake about 5 miles west of the Chadron airport in Dawes County Nebraska, and 1 1/2 miles west of the city of Whitney. It is a private irrigation reservoir so access is limited.
The lake has approximately 900 surface acres of water, and is a very scenic lake. The Nebraska State Game and Parks Commission lists Whitney Lake as containing Channel Catfish, Crappie, Perch, Walleye and White Bass.
