Agate Fossil Beds National Monument
Take a drive the 30 miles (48 k) north on Nebraska 29 to Agate Fossil Beds. Here, you'll find a unique story of the early age of Mammals. For lots of things to do see my Agate page. Yes, there is enough to do to keep you busy all day. No place nearby to stay. Make it a day trip, but give yourself a day. Include either early morning (tough with the drive up) or stay until near sunset. It's worth the time. Of course, it's nicer if the temperature is down below 80 F (27 c).
