Travel Tips for Lincoln

Seeing RED!

by JennJenn

Do you bleed Husker Red?

Most of Lincoln, and the entire state of Nebraska does. So, if you're in town on a football game day (most Saturdays in the fall) be prepared to see red red red.

Also, be prepared for a mass of people from all over the state to decend upon Lincoln. Shopping malls get full, downtown is impossible to drive through, and the I-180 into town is choked up before and after the game.

Lincoln is hip young town for the young at heart

"What this city is all about!"

Just under 300,000 people the city is filled with 25,000 students from UNL. With more than a 100 bars and restaurants within an 8 block walking distance this is the place to be both during the school season and summer. From the Saltdog's pro baseball team in the summer and Lincoln Star's hockey in the winter and obviously Husker football in the fall Lincoln is a sports city. Lincoln has a lot to offer the person who wants to play and "party".
Theme bars from the 50's and gourmet food and brew-pubs offer nightlife and excitement. First class hotels offer a view of the city and the Children's museum is one of the best in the country.
The Lied Center of performing arts brings in big names and huge entertainment.
I loved this place so much I stayed.
