People look at you kinda funny...
People look at you kinda funny when at 7 AM, you emerge from a minivan with Missouri plates, snap a couple of pictures, nod and smile and say a few pithy remarks in a Southern accent, then jump back into the minivan and drive off. And the little old woman at the McDonald's seemed confused at two guys in a minivan too. I could have explained that Alejandro and I, in reaching Kansas City late two nights earlier, found no cars left at Thrifty Rent-a-Car; thus we were stuck with the minivan. I could further have explained that we had waken at 4:30 AM that morning, after watching the USA National Soccer Team beat Costa Rica 1-0 the night before, in order to see Nebraska, then turn around and drive back to Kansas City to catch our flight back to DC. I could have explained all that, but I don't think she would have believed me. I don't blame her.
