Packing List
by kmifflin
If in Winter: bring lots of warm clothes, including a hat. The wind is worse than the snow.
In summer: nothing, you'll need to strip to survive Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, whatever your headache medicine of choice is. None: Omaha is not going to impress anybody when you show pictures of your trip back to your friends back home. Make sure your plane ticket to Omaha is round trip and not one way.
Great Italian cuisine
by volleyballslut about Lo Sole Mio
Set in a decent neighborhood in South Central Omaha, Lo Sole Mio gives you landslide portions of food. Nobody I know has ever completed their meal in the 1 sitting; they give you such a big portion, which takes nothing away from the quality of taste, that you'll have 2 or 3 meals out of it. On weekend evenings you'll have to wait for a table (no reservations) and the environment is a little crowded, also it's no bargain to buy a meal there, but don't be a cheapskate for 1 night of your life - have some of the house wine, forget the price and you will leave there full AND satisfied. The Veal Parmesan and Chicken Alfredo are pungent with spices to really satisfy your taste for good food, and the hot, fresh bread is like a deliciously warm blanket. They never heard of the Atkins Diet here. You can't go wrong with most of the selections & the wait staff is very knowlewdgable about what's good, what's previous customers have raved about & what, with your tastes, you might want to avoid.

Omaha's Old Market
by Tom_Fields
Many cities have razed most of their old, historic buildings. People ask "What good is a run-down, vacant warehouse, except as a haven for bums and vermin?"
Omaha took a collection of old, empty warehouses and showed us what can be done with them. The result is a charming, pleasant section of restaurants, shops, bars, coffee houses, and other hangouts which is one of the city's best places to go.
Why don't other cities follow Omaha's example? One can only hope that more of them will.
Omaha is a great Family town

"Omaha, what a great family town"
Living is Omaha was better than I thought it would be. The winter here can get a little cold, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. There are quite a bit of things to do, if you look around. There's no traffic, and parking is usually plentiful. Coming from New York City, I really love the lack of the hustle and bustle. Great town to raise a family.
