- I will detail exactly what our experiences were at Econo Lodge and You, the Reader, can draw your own conclusions. Here are the FACTS: We needed only a place to crash for one night before heading to the airport in the morning. We were aware that Econo Lodge was a 'budget Hotel' and for the money one pays it is a good deal. I take no issue with that. This place is not the Waldorf Astoria and those who expect as such need to understand that rates in this place are low for a REASON. Having said that- I awoke in the early morning my upper torso COVERED in red welts, extremely ITCHY ones. Fortunately, my wife had not been 'bitten' (we figured- bedbugs) because she was wearing pyjamas. I had about 30 bites on my back, arms, and neck. This had never happened to me before so I was unprepared for it- bit in retrospect understand that it is wise to be 'on guard' when researching and / or checking into ANY hotel or motel these days. WE just quickly packed and got the hell out of there and grabbed a cab to the airport. My wife was very freaked- out and upset. I did not bring the matter up with the desk clerk because I knew what I would hear: '...Sorry but you need to contact the owner / manager...' Besides, we just wanted to LEAVE as quickly as possible. I have never had any 'experiences' with beds in bugs before so there was NO WAY we 'brought' the horrible things with us into the room- they were living INSIDE THE BED. And I saw a Doctor upon my return who verified: BEDBUGS. I would very urgently 'suggest' to the owner of this premises that a THOROUGH pest- extermination process be undertaken immediately- if it has not been done so since we checked out. Otherwise, you get what you pay for.
