College World Series: Always happens in the middle of June at Rosenblatt Stadium. Get some tickets and enjoy. Paulis is a popular place for people to hang out after the games.

Husker Football: It's about an hour drive to Lincoln, but it's fun to go at least once to a Husker game.

Hockey: Omaha has the UNO hockey team which is always a fun game to go to. The minor league Knights and Lancers also are big games to go to as well.

Basketball: Creighton plays at the Qwest Center. The newness of the Qwest and the talent of the team has gotten some big crowds, but I suspect that'll level off after the Qwest ages or the team goes through some growing pains.

Nebraska Beef Company

A little pricy, but very nice atmosphere a very well stocked bar, but don't even show up here unless your looking to eat some meat. The 15 oz Filet Mignon, That's the best steak i've ever had. They also have a wide varity of wild game dishes.

Strategic Air Command Museum.

A vast collection of bombers from the Cold War. Also a few fighters, and some good displays. Great for aviation and military history buffs. My last visit was just before the museum was moved. These photos are all from that visit; I hope that all of these items are now on display at their new home.

Heartland of America Park

A beautiful urban park, this is also a safe place to go (except possibly late at night). A small stream runs right through the middle of it, then cascades down a waterfall and into a pond. From there, it empties into the Missouri River.

I lived here from 1995 to 1998. For its size, Omaha has a good number of things to see and do. It's much better if you're a die-hard Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Otherwise, it's hard to find anything to talk about, especially during the football season. Just don't say anything BAD about the team.

Omaha has a heavy German and Eastern European influence. This is reflected in the food, ethnic festivals, and general culture. It's also had an influx of recent Mexican immigrants, many employed by the local meat-packing plants. This makes it a diverse city, relative to its size.
