Holidome - Central Omaha
This Holidome, like most, is showing its age a little, but was better maintained than many. The pool was clean and the area around it was well-kept. The mini-golf is a bit raggedy, but is still okay for a short diversion. We stayed in a first floor room just at the edge of the Dome. It was remodeled and pretty fresh by Holiday Inn standards. There was some noise from the dome area until about 11 PM, so if that's a problem you might stay a little farther from the pool (it wasn't very bad or too loud, but was noticeable.) All in all, it was better than we expected --- it wasn't the Hyatt, but we had no real complaints.
Unique Quality: "Beach Entry" pool is great for younger children and non-swimmers. There is a really big area of shallow water, and no sharp drop-offs, so "waders" can join the pool fun.
Easy access to I-80 (at 72nd Street), and a straight shot to the Zoo and Downtown ... just about 5 minutes or less. This beats fighting downtown traffic, as I-80 is about 5 lanes wide and was always clear sailing.
If you have young children (or can't swim) and are going to the zoo, this really is the place for you!
