You find some really low quality Super 8's as you stay in a good number of them, but this is probably one of the worst I've seen.
Everything was just in sorry shape, from the lobby to the hallways to the furnishings in the room itself. Breakfast was a little ridiculous: stale bread, packaged muffins and a couple of those cereal containers where you have to turn the wheel. And awful coffee. Awful coffee is a staple of any bad motel breakfast.
The walls are thin but the noisy, fighting couple next to me luckily shut up (or left) by about midnight.
This was the last Super 8 I stayed in and it's one of a couple that have made me reconsider the brand as a whole. I've had good experiences with them in some places, but the bad tends to overshadow it.
Unique Quality: Close to attractions and not far from Downtown
Directions: 72nd south of Center
THE ROOM SEEMED CLEAN AND ADEQUATE, but then at 9 pm I thought I saw something moving on the desk where they put the telephone and a lamp. Upon closer inspection I found a swarm of Sugar Ants, maybe 20 or so. We killed them and waited for their reinforcements to arrive but other than 3 or 4 stragglers, no more ants appeared.
We told the desk clerk while checking out in the morning and he did take $15 off of our bill.
Unique Quality: The way this motel is designed, there is a very small hall-like room used for the continental breakfast. From the wing of rooms where we stayed, the only way you could get out the front door was to haul your luggage through this room, causing people seated for breakfast to jump up and move. Either that or you had to lift your luggage over your head to squeeze through. Not good.
Directions: Its on the east side of 72nd Street, a few blocks north of I-80.
