'Dedicated to you, A Free Citizen in a Free Land'

Many people will have heard of America's 'Liberty Bell'. the bell in the picture is situated outside of the Nevada State Museum. I just had to read the inscription, part of which is reproduced here, for your information:
"Reproduction of the 'Liberty Bell, presented to the people of NEVADA by direction of the Honorable John w. SNYDER - Secretary of this Treasury, as the inspirational symbol of the United States Savings Bonds Independence drive from May 15 to July 4, 1950. It was displayed in every part of this State. One of 53 cast in France in 1950."
The best day, ok second best day, of my life
by zrim
I scored my only hole in one at this golf course in Carson City in 2002. I have no idea what the names of these two guys are, but they were playing in our foursome and were (are) autoworkers from Oklahoma City.
The hole is a 156 yard par 3. I used a pitching wedge for my ace.
When a golfer gets a hole in one it is customary to buy everyone drinks at the bar. This course had no bar--so I told everyone in our group (about 40 strong) that drinks were on me back at the casino. The best part about that was we had complimentary drinks at the casino as part of our golf package. Therefore, the hole in one did not cost me several hundred dollars in drink tariff.
Want to Go for a Ride?
by Kiisu
If you want an exhilarating sightseeing experience, go for a glider ride out of the Minden airport. See the Sierras, Lake Tahoe, or even go for an acrobatic ride if you're daring! Minden airport is known throughout the western USA as a superb soaring airport with a great flight school. From Carson City, go south about 8 miles to Airport Road in Minden.
A Nice town with nothing around
by BruceDunning
"Reverent feeling"
A quite but good town to enjoy at a slow pace. The heh day was some time ago. The town holds 55,000 residents and is the State capitol, also having a US mint here. That was built in 1866 to process the silver coming from Comstock. There are other homes for tour, about 4-5, none too fancy, but life style for the times in last 1800's
Capital of the Silver State
by cwest03
You would think that Las Vegas would be the capital of Nevada (the Silver State) but it's not. Carson City, just east of Lake Tahoe and south of Reno, is in fact the capital. It's a small town with not much to do but it's worth a trip for a few hours to check out some of the historical sites as well as some of the older casinos.
