Is this your first time to Elko? There are less than 20,000 people and it is in the middle of nowhere. Most people drive past on I-80 going at least 80 miles per hour.

Quand j'ai demeuble (est-ce que c'est le mot??) de la Californie a NY, j'ai traverse Elko. Il n'y a pas beaucoup a faire la... Une chose que vous allez remarquer est le gambling. Ce n'est pas illegale la. Ainsi si vous voudriez, vous pouvez jouer un peu. Mais a propos des restaurants... Vous n'allez pas trouver un jolie restaurant.

Anyway, I remember a restaurant (a diner) with a stuffed polar bear on one corner. And men dressed as cowboys, and slot machines.

We arrive in the USA in the beginning of July (I forgot to write that we WILL be on vacation)

dear philippe,
there are but a few "good" restaurants in town. The really good ones are Basque owned and operated. Try the Star, the Nevadan or Bil-Toki really, really good food there; The buildings don't look like much on the outside but you'll be pleasantly surprised. (Not hard to find, they're behind the casinos downtown) The big casino in town The Red Lion has an excellent buffet with seafood on Fri. nights, that's pretty good as well. If you're here on the July 2nd weekend you'll see the Basque Festival and running with the bulls. Good Luck and have fun!!!
