Mrs Henderson Presents.........
"A "homey" house to hang your hat"
I had the distinct pleasure of spending some more quality time with VT member CatherineCG and her husband, Jay. I met Catherine and Jay at Berni and Carl Shand's vow renewal this past April. Catherine and I struck up a fast friendship as we worked together to pull off the re-wedding of the year. Catherine and Jay invited me to come and stay a few days with them so when I came across a very good airfare I snagged it. I so enjoyed my stay with them and their "nutty" Yorkshire Terriers Frank and Lily what a hoot they are.
Catherine is the consumate hostess, my "suite" was just beautiful replete with a bed spread ensemble that I very nearly purchased for my own home a week prior to the trip! She had an unbelieveable "honor bar" set up in the cabinet. On my honor I promised to raid the "honor bar"-- it had several bottles of water, Starbucks coffee liqueur, napkins, glass snifters and a wide assortment of chocolates including "Kit Kats!!!" Ha! and on my most recent visit, my hostess included a bottle of Grey Goose and Della Notte Black Sambucca! Not to sound conceited here but don't you wish you were me?
Catherine and Jay have a nice home in a gated community in Henderson. I was all agog when we drove in for the first time, I could not believe the trees and greenery of this beautiful complex, this is the desert?!?! Wow! Their house sits on a corner lot and has the most beautiful willow trees and the roses, my oh my how beautiful they all were. The trees had lost their leaves since my last visit was in winter but the Flowering Plum trees were all in bloom.
We had a blast together. It was so nice not to feel "out of place" if there was silence no one felt compelled to fill it with talk, to me that it a sign that all parties are comfortable with each other.
"Catherine and her great taste in men!"
You know it is astounding this VT website. In a period of about 18 months I have made some dear friends all around the world. Catherine and Jay have become dear friends as well.
Jay is an absolute delight. A deep, caring soul he never lets on about his discomfort from injuries sustained in a car accident, but to a trained eye one can tell he is in pain. But let me tell you that did not stop us from having a great time! We laughed well into the wee hours of the night and the next morning we picked it up from where we left it. It was so great to banter back and forth. Oh yes and this gentleman knows how to serve Sambucca!
"Family Ties"
I also had the honor to meet their son, Jayson. A kind, caring man who recently has found love with a sweet gal who takes good care of him. Jayson who suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury) in a motor bike accident has really come a long way due in part to Catherine and Jay devotion and rehab efforts.
The doctors prognosis was a dire one stating he would be comatose and even if he did regain consciousness he would not have a good quality of life. Well Jayson is a downright miracle! I was simply amazed at his abilities, not only does he have an excellent quality of life he is living independently in his own home, he will soon have his driver's license again. Unbelievable! The brain has a remarkable way of regenerating itself, yes it is a slow process but it can happen, Jayson is living proof of that.
