Ski Diamond Peak (used to be Ski Incline)
by DSwede
Nested in the hills above Incline Village is a great ski area. Its not as glamorized as Squaw, Northstar, Heavenly, etc. But it offers the same verticals, great conditions, great views, and a some of the best ski instruction & patrols in the Tahoe Basin.
Originally it was Ski Incline, a modest hill in a great location. Then the resort nearly doubled in size with the investment of a high-speed quad chair, then becoming Diamond Peak. This one chair services ~20 runs and countless sections of trees.
The longest line I ever remember was 10 minutes.

A trip to Virginia City
by BLewJay
If you are looking for something different, then Virginia City is the place to visit. Located approximately 40 Miles from Lake Tahoe, Virginia City is an old west town with a very interesting history.
The mining boom turned Virginia City into the most important settlement between Denver and San Francisco...prospectors became instant millionaires who built mansions and imported furniture/fashions from Europe and the Orient.
With gold in every hill and millions of dollars being made, men came from everywhere abd became "Bonanza Kings." Even Mark Twain did a stint here.
Lake Tahoe in Winter

Lake Tahoe has go to be one of the most beautiful places in the western US if not all of North America. The sheer size of the lake is breath taking and the mountains surrounding the lake on all sides are quite impressive.
