Although separate hotels from the outside, these two hotels are linked internally, (making it so much easier to get lost!) We stayed in Bally's which was fine (we only stayed for 1 night).

The 'Frenchness' is quite authentic; french bread and cooking are great

Greek Isles Hotel & Casino: Off the strip
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This hotel is not on the strip but not too far away either. We did'nt have a choice of hotel as this is used by the company my husband was sent to LV to do some work there we were'nt paying :-)

This hotel was once owned by the American actress Debbie Reynolds.

Has a casino, a wedding chapel, a theatre where shows are on, I think when we were there it was a Rat Pack Tribute which had good revues.
Also a heated swimming pool and spa, and plenty of parking.
Staff were really nice and helpful.
Our room was a good size with a sitting area, microwave, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities.
    Ironing board, iron etc.
There is also a Greek restaurant in the hotel called Yannis.

  • The Plush Living Room of the Suite - Las Vegas

This is an awesome hotel. It's definitely the best hotel that I've had the pleasure of staying in in Vegas. This, of course, doesn't include the suites that I've stayed in with other (read: rich) relatives.

So far, THE Hotel isn't as well known as other hotels despite being at Mandalay Bay. The bellhop said that they're currently running at around 50% occupancy. And that's in the summer. Try going during the week as the rates are over 50% less than on the weekends.

If you're into being hip, this is your place.

The best qualities of this hotel are the amenities inside the suite. There are three plasma TVs including one in the bathroom. I watched ESPN while taking a shower. That's great!

The decor is very hip, swank. You'll feel like a high roller sittin' on the plush couch watching the big-screen plasma TV.

Also, the body lotion smells great!

Tropicana Resort And Casino: Avoid Tropicana!    Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:

  • The first impression of this hotel was that it was old & in desperate need of a renovation. We were greeted by unhelpful bellmen in total chaos and a front desk clerk who scolded me for not having my name on the reservation along with my husbands! Once we arrived in our overpriced room, we found it to be clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff was very nice and courteous. The pool area was messy but attractive. Only problem with that area was the waterfall and garden areas were poorly maintained. We saw a dead bird floating in the water the entire stay (4 nights). Casino...well, we weren't happy with this area either because of their misleading advertisement. They didn't fulfill promises according to their multitude of ads! The only thing going for this place is the location and the housekeeping staff. I definetely would NOT stay here again!

    Housekeeping staff.

  • The rooms are strange, not quite oriental, not quite.....whatever, but shop worn. However, most rooms are large, and not quite Holiday Inn. As I say, I can't explain it. I do not recommend this facility.

Great location, best on the strip. Gambling done in dim lighting.

none to speak of......did I mention great location, across from Caesars, close to everything else.

I stayed for one night in one of the hotel's "Bella Suites" -- I think we got upgraded:))) Anyway everything worked well. Despite the stories I had heard about Friday afternoon check-ins the line at the check-in time of 3pm was short. Everything went smoothly. The room was very attractive and very clean. In fact no complaints.
    .
The onsite eating was varied, although we had stale pastries at the Santa Lucia Cafe in the food court. Dinner at Valentino was excellent -- see that tip for more info.

All the rooms are suites. The living area is divided from the sleeping area by a railing and 2 steps down. The colored were warm orange-reds and greens with a touch of Tuscan yellow. The toilet is in a separate little room -- one of my fave design features in an upscale hotel. I LOVED the mini-canopy over the bed with a reading light tucked up there. I looked for things to complain about -- hey I owe you folks a REAL review -- but other that a loooong walk from the elevator to the room there were none!

The Venetian is the epitome of Italian romance! The Grand Canal encircles the hotel, featuring Gondoliers singing romantic operatic melodies as they guide you through the waters in an authentic venetian gondola!

The lobby/hallway of this hotel is absolutely amazing! There is a huge golden statue of the globe/fountain in the foyer and the hallway leading into the casino area is painted to resemble Michelangelo's works!

This property has 3,036 beautifully appointed suites starting at $129 a night off
season/weekdays (average runs about $189+ a night). There are 7 restaurants in the Venetian including French, Italian, Chinese cuisine and 2 Steakhouses.

    ENTERTAINMENT:

    LORD OF THE DANCE
    Show Times: Tues-Sun 8PM; Tues,Wed,Sat 8PM & 10:15PM

    Irish Clog Dancing

    V: THE ULTIMATE SHOW
    Show Times: 6PM nightly
    Admission: $49-$69; $22 kids

The Grand Canal Shoppes are also housed in the Venetian. This 500,000 square foot mall on the banks of the Grand Canal features cobble stone walkways, street-side cafes and a unique and eclectic collection of restaurants and shops!

The architecture itself is elegant. Don't miss a ride on the Grand Canal around the hotel in a gondola! Be sure to visit the lobby.

We stayed here summer 2002, in large suite-like rooms, and with a glamous bathroom. The hotel was quieter than others on the strip, but hosts a lot of conferences. Occassionally we got lost amid the conference delegates and the conference centre.

Unbelievably (or not for Las Vegas, where anything is possible) this hotel has a couple of museums. While we were there, one had a exhibition on Motor cycles, (we gave that one a miss); the other of 20th century art from Russia (Hermitage museum collection) and US (Guggenheim museum Collection) AMAZING. We forgot we were in Las Vegas for the afternoon.

The (three) pools on the 5th floor is great. Watch out at 5pm though, when the Treasure Island show starts; the explosions can be quite frightening when out of context and unexpected!

I stayed here for a conference. I got a better deal on the internet, from the Bally's website than I did from the conference 'special offers'!

Rooms are very big and have great setups if you need to plug in your laptop to work (as I did).

Didn't like that other things like working out in the health club were an extra charge.

This is a more typical yet very classy Vegas casino - no fancy themes but very clean and shiney. Lots and lots of gambling, well laid out and efficiently run. Well, it's sort of clean -- it does have those show girl shows (titties, feathers and all) which are probably only worth being seen at a discount (a friend won tickets for free or I'd have never gone, but it was interesting 'culture', I suppose - tackiest music I've heard in a long time, though I suppose that's not why most of the guys were there).

  • This hotel is for the silly people who would rather throw their money away on accomodation instead of investing it in the dollar slots.
Kids are not welcome, and are turned away at the door unless parents are registered. However, this does ensure navigating the casino floor without tripping over toddlers.
Great buffets, however, they are expensive as far as buffets are concerned, but lots of choice, and superior quality. The dancing fountains are a joy to behold, swaying too and fro in time with the music. Wonderful gardens, and a general feeling of wealth surrounds you. This hotel may not be comfortable for some..(includes mapakettle)

    a mini Lake Como.
