Suggestions for 3 days in Las Vegas

by collegeprof

Having received lots of responses regarding tour of the Grand Canyon, we decided to rent a luxury car and with 4-5 drivers head there on Thursday, November 11th.

On Friday, our last full day and night we thought we'd book dinner/theater at the Bellagio for "O".

We've heard great reviews of Mac King, Terry Fator, the Titanic Museum, and Paris Buffet.

We have Wednesday, Friday and all day Saturday at the Bellagio. Please comment on the suggestions we've had and please let me know are there any other "must sees", please!

If you are a fan of Liberace, his museum is awesome. You've made a wonderful choice of seeing "O". It is so so amazing. Wear warm clothing for Grand Canyon trip. Have a great trip.

Alice, sad to say, but the Liberace Museum has been closed since October 17,2010. Read the Museum press release: http://www.liberace.org/UserFiles/File/LiberaceMuseumClosure_Sept2010.pdf

To the poster, if going to see Terry Fator, a great show at the Mirage Hotel, try to get as close as possible for the best view. See Terry's Website: http://www.terryfator.com/

That is sad the museum is closed. Thanks for letting me know.

Travel Tips for Las Vegas

The wonderful thing about "Vegas" are all the things you can see or do for little or no money. For instance the BELLAGIO has the Bellagio Conservatory which is an elaborate display of horticulture and art, with more than 7,500 plants, trees and flowers to view. Open 24 hours and it's FREE. Bellagio also has its "Fountains". Serpentine streams of water are projected from 1,000 synchronized fountains that reach haights of 245 feet. Monday to Friday shows every half-hour between 3 & 8 p.m., shows every 15 minutes between 8:00 p.m. & midnight.Sat. & Sun. same schedule, but shows begin at noon and it's FREE.
FLAMINGO HILTON - Wildlife Habitat. Chilean flamingos and other exotic creatures take up residence on the original Flamingo hotel site. Open 24 hours and it's FREE.
FREEMONT STREET EXPERIENCE - Spectacular light and sound shows on the world's largest LED screen, covering six blocks of downtown Las Vegas. Shows begin nightly at dusk and continue on the hour until midnight. Fremont Street & Las Vegas Blvd. FREE.
IMPERIAL PALACE - The Auto Collection. It is the world's largest classic car showroom with $100million worth of inventory on display, including antique, muscle, famous and historically significant vehicles. Daily 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. $6.95 Entrance fee.
MGM GRAND - Lion Habitat -Behind 35 foot tall glass walls, the eight African lions eat, sleep and play above and around you. Daily 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. FREE
THE MIRAGE - Volcano - Flames shoot into the night sky some 100 feet above the waters below. Located in front of the Mirage along the "Strip". Nightly at the top of each hour from dusk to midnight. FREE
CIRCUS CIRCUSFeatures the world's largest permanent circus tent with ongoing circus acts. FREE
Finally - walking along the "Strip" in the evening is simply awesome, with Vegas lit up in all its glory. You've never seen so much glitter in all your life and - it's FREE

Roller Coasters

by Hedgehogs

We rode the roller coaster at New York New York and the ones at the Stratoshpere.
The New York New York Coaster was really great! It's very fast and jerky so if this is a problem for you it might not be a good idea, but other wise its a great coaster.
The Statoshpere has 3 rides on the top. We went on 2 of them - The Big Shot and the X Scream. The Big shot was the better of the 2 but both were good. The anticipation for the X Scream is worse than the actual ride :). There is information about prices and descriptions of the rides on their web site - http://www.stratospherehotel.com

a must in Vegas is to walk the strip and check out some of the hotels . the work that must have gone into the creation of these properties blows me away . it is like visiting different parts of the world in one stop . my fondest memory of Vegas was the 7 hours I spent at the Holiday Inn Boardwalk's roulette table .

Tip, Tip, Tip

by erudisel

Don't forget to tip everyone when you're here. Even if you're losing. I know that the gambling guides tell you not to tip if you want to make money, but your experience will be so much better if you do. The dealers might even give you some good advice on a hand if you have been taking care of them. t's customary to tip a dealer a few bucks when you win a decent amount of money on a hand/spin/roll. The dealers' salary isn't as high as you might think. Also, make sure that you tip the bellhops because you will get your bags faster when you checkout. Trust me, a few dollars can make a big difference.

Fountains of Rome?

Its all in the details isn't it. Caesars Forum shops are a terrific way to spend the afternoon. You can spend more there than you lost at the tables..........the fountians are beautiful, and a fun place to stop to people watch.
