2nd Honeymoon and 1st trip to Vegas

by suesue25

My husband and I are traveling to Las Vegas in Sept for our 2nd honeymoon and looking for ideas on where to stay we will be there for 5 nights and 4 days and I am looking for something romantic on the Strip. Also thinking about a day trip to the Grand Canyon.

Depend on your budget, the most expensive hotel is the Venetian, Exacilibar offers a great deal. Try www.vegas.com, Grand canyon is good, but try the helicopter ride

Pretty much any of the large hotels on the Strip are good. I've stayed at Caesars a number of times, Paris, MGM, NYNY, and the Rio (which is not on the Strip.

For the Canyon, I'd use Sundance Helicopters again.

I go along with the Venetian for romantic. Why, you can take a gondola ride as well at the Venetian. Now, if you really want romantic then head out of town about 15 minutes to Lake Las Vegas and the Tuscan Village they have on the lake. You can take a gondola ride around the lake as well. I took my wife there for one of our anniversaries and had a great time. There are several major Resorts and Hotels at the lake and to fit some budgets a couple of condo resorts as well. See my VT pages for Lake Las Vegas as well as the underlined blue words in my tips that take you to websites at the lake which is located at the Hoover Dam side of Henderson. Travel Tips for Las Vegas

The Arc de Triomphe for Free

by deecat

From the Las Vegas Strip, you are able to see The "Arc de Triomphe" for free twenty four hours a day, This replica is a 2/3 scale of the original monument in Paris, France, that was dedicated to the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Austerlitz. The names and dates of Napaleon's victories are inscribed on this Vegas replica.

It's located in an unusual spot: the check-in circle for the Paris Las Vegas Hotel/Casino. I even ran over to the monument to see it up close to inspect the details. They are amazing.

I was impressed with the authenticity of this monument and enjoyed seeing it as much as I enjoyed going into the hotel and casino with all its understated elegance.

Wrap yourself in toilet paper

by mht_in_la

I saw Blue Man Group at Luxor in Vegas. It's only so so. The best part is music, which is NOT made from PVC pipes as many think, but performed by a regular band. Besides music, the show prides itself in getting the audience involved. But I think it's nonsense. For example, before the show begins, the staff distributes rolls and rolls of toilet paper and encourages the audience to "decorate themselves". Haha those who watch the whole show with toilet paper hanging from their head must feel stupid afterwards.

Walk from one end of the Strip to another. You will see all of the major casino's and restaurants. As you walk, Elvis's will be singing, certain hotels have outdoor attractions, and the lights are incredible. Watching the fountains outside of Bellagio. This is a casino that has a fountain show either every hour or half our to a couple of different songs.

See the light show at the Bellagio at night - in front of the Hotel.

Also, the pirate show in front of Treasure Island is well worth waiting for - even for the very jaded! Getting married in the chapel at the Excalibur, complete with Medieval costumes and dinner fit for a king afterward.

Outdoor gondola ride

by mht_in_la

Right in front of the Venetian casino, they built a small canal and a gondola dock similar to the real one in Piazza San Marco in Venice. Weather permits, you can hire a gondola circling around. From what I see, this is not as popular as Venetian's indoor gondola ride though (see must-see tips).
