A Playground for Grown-ups

A stroll along the center of the Strip with stops at the Venetian canals, the Mirage volcano, & of course the Bellagio fountains It's hard to narrow down to just one thing! The Bellagio fountains were gorgeous, and parts of the Venetian really made me think I might have been in Italy again. I also saw Tom Jones at the Grand - I had wanted to see a classic old Vegas act & he did not disappoint. Great food & great shopping. It's basically Fantasyland, over-the-top tacky, but that's the appeal. When you're in Vegas, you forget about everything except having fun - & isn' t that what a vacation's all about?
Las Vegas Tip

I was a kid, and we had been driving with my cousins all night across the desert from LA, with the heat on! The radiator on my cousin's car was malfunctioning and he needed to run the heat to keep the car from overheating. Not even the kids had gotten much sleep when we arrived in Los Vegas early in the morning. We were absolutely in the middle of nowhere, when suddenly, shimmering on the horizon was a swirling multicolored mirage. Our mouths hung open in amazement. We stopped for breakfast and my mother lost a nickel in the slot machines to demonstrate to us kids the evils of gambling.

When your in Vegas, you MUST go to as many of the Hotels as you can! You have to. Go to the ones with state themes esp. They are awsome. If you stay at the MGM be sure to visit their theme park. My favorite part about our trip was the Grand Cnyon. when you are standing at the top, look all the way down to the bottom of the canyon. You can truly see God's hand in his creation. It's one of the most beautiful and amazing things you'll ever see.
Tomb of Nakht Paintings in Las Vegas?
by Yaqui
Although my travels are limited to the states and to certain places. I so enjoy some of the silliest details. Las Vegas is a easy place for us to visit and everytime we come across certain details that I think many people may not recognize. I can honestly say I appreciate the effort these mega resorts put into replicating some of the historical content of the themes of their hotels. I not as worldly as some of you wonderful VTer's, but I do read a lot and love history as you can tell. So seeing the front the Luxor I knew it had some historical reasoning to the design and landscaping.
So I happened to look down in the parking lot, and I do not why it was not added to some more of area of honor, but I knew it replicated something significant.
The painting is of The Tomb of Nakht on the West Bank at Luxor.
The shows a flocks of rising birds and Nakhjt with his wife and their two small sons in a papyrus boat, holding hunting sticks. Called a double register scene. The top of the painting shows peasants gathering grapes, while others press them to make wine. In the lower painting shows the days catch of birds that are being dragged in a net, while others are sown carefully plucking and cleaning the birds (Mark Andrews, 2003).

Bellagio conservatory
by goingsolo
A picture of the interior of the Bellagio conservatory. The Conservatory is located towards the rear of the hotel and directly behind the lobby. The conservatory has several impressive flower sculptures, which are changed every season. The hotel has 150 gardening and greenhouse staff, which should give you an idea of the scale of the sculptures and the planning and design that goes into them. The Conservatory is really just a quick detour, a walk through to view the sculptures and the fountain. But its a sight worth seeing. Numerous weddings are performed at the Bellagio and often brides and grooms are posing for pictures in front of the fountain or displays.
