can you take photos in the hotels

Re: photos

by schurlif

NOT in the casinos and not during the shows..... anywhere else, yes.....

Re: photos

by globetrott

It is strange in my opinion that photos are not allowed in a casino - do they have to HIDE anything ??
I know its the same all over the world and still I think it is strange !

Re: photos

Depends on what you are focused on. You're good in lobbys, shopping areas, and the periphery of the casino. You can forget about it if your in the pit areas. Don't do it near a Sportsbook either! If you're at a bank of slots and take a picture of your friend next to you, you'll probably be OK, as long as you aren't making a big production or doing some sort of panoramic thing that will get others you don't know in the shot. Shows are a definite no-no - I've seen cameras confiscated no matter how discreet the people thought they were being...

Re: photos

globetrott - I don't think they're hiding anything...I've always heard its more for privacy of the other gamblers. Although that may be an urban legend...

Re: photos

in any casino in the world you can take pics or video, not only in LasVegas.
people inside the Casino might not appriciate.
btw also inside many shopping center or big shops, pics/video are forbidden

It's not only for the privacy of the gamblers but also for security purposes. No casino wants someone taking flicks of the floor that details cameras/security/etc.

PinkFloydActuary......

This is the exact reason a casino bulldog gave me once when I wanted to take a pic of my ex-wife at the one arm bandit.....

Re: photos

we certainly encountered no difficulty in taking pictures in the casinos, which were scenic photos as opposed to directed views of machines or machinery. however because the machines tended to be bright and the rooms dark, not many came out very well.

certain shows allow pictures, certain don't. barry manilow show
allows all the images one can take, but the cirque d'soleil and the strip show at the mgm grand are obnoxious and purposely offensive in their harrassment of those who carry a camera into the auditorium even if no photos are taken.

Oooops we have taken photos inside the casinos in Las Vegas. Lots in the non gambling areas (shops and other places) but must admit we have shots of us on some slot machines that were themed in a way that had relevance to us or friends back home, eg Star Wars ones. Didn't think anything of it but will know for future. No one asked us not to at the time.

Travel Tips for Las Vegas

Gambling advise

by Odinnthor

Gambling. Hmm. The only way to bring home a small fortune from Las Vegas, - is to bring a large fortune with you. Be aware that everything, - and I mean everything, - is set up and geared to seperate you from your money. Examples: You will never see a clock anywhere in a casino. You will never be able to see outside when in the casino. It is always late evening in the casino, no matter what time it is. Cashiers are really hard to find. The idea is that while you are wondering around looking for one, - something else will draw your attention, - like the money burning a hole in your pocket. The city has an effect on your cerebral cortex, - it makes you initially stupid. Your decision making facilities go in the toilet. Remember that you are out of your comfort zone, - initially a fish out of water, and the flash and bells and whistles are bombarding your brain. Consider this: 75% of all money lost in Vegas, - is lost on the first day!!!

My advise, - and I do know this, - when you get to Vegas, book in to your hotel, clean up, have a nice dinner, see a nice show, get drunk and party, and go to bed. The next day, after breakfast ( brunch, really.....), go strolling, and - now that your brain has adjusted and acclamated to the town, - gambling is much more of an enjoyment, - particularly knowing that you recognized their ways, and counteracted. This does not guarantee a winning trip, but you are way ahead.
Good luck!

Nothing in Las Vegas is CHEAP!!

by jhane27

I do miss Vegas a whole lot..The people are very friendly and the city has so much energy to give. But, make sure you bring enough money with you to have the fun you want to have. I recommend that anyone coming with $400 or less in their pocket spend most of their time on Fremont Street. Where everything is cheaper and your money can go a long way.... Stop at the Golden Gate Hotel to get their famous Football full of Beer or whatever you have the taste for, for only $6.00. The way the city lights look at night especially when your flying over the city coming into the airport at night!

Binions Horseshoe Downtown. ...

Binions Horseshoe Downtown. Great place to gamble, great steaks, affordable prices for food in the Coffee Shop and they used to take a FREE picture of you in front of the Million Dollars. I'm not sure if they still do. Gambling.

Walk down the strip at night...

by Kallie

Walk down the strip at night from the Mandalay Bay Hotel at one end past the Luxor pyramid, New York skyline in miniature and the exploding volcanoe at the Mirage ending
at Treasure Island resort to see the pirate battle. Loved the climate. Constant sunshine, but very strong between noon and 3 pm. Be careful. Sitting by the pool with a cocktail, listening to the children playing in the pool.
