Heart of Downtown Vegas
Since it also had a casino we hardly spent anytime in the room, after our trip to the strip when we got back we stayed up gambling at the casino. Overall it was not a bad place to stay in , nothing fancy and certainly no frills but at around $50 per room per nite it was a steal in the christmas time.
The restaurant had a complimentary buffet that was quite adequate and the rooms were actually better than our expectation.

fitzgeralds also know as the "fitz" is located downtown on fremont street. in my opinion it is the second best hotel downtown next to the golden nugget. if you are on a budget it is a little less expensive than the golden nugget.

The Luck o' the Irish, Downtown
I stayed here in May 2005 and it was a perfect location for the bicentennial celebrations going on in the Fremont St. area. It is an Irish themed hotel with 638 rooms that have all the amenities you would expect from a 3+* hotel. Like all hotels in Vegas prices vary depending on a number of factors but expect to pay around $60 weekdays and $80 weekends.
Sustenance is provided by a steakhouse, a 24hr café and the ubiquitous buffet. To be fair, there are better places to eat than Fitzgeralds, and you are of course spoilt for choice.
Unique Quality: The casino is on two floors and the upper floor includes a video jukebox area that leads out onto the lucky Lookout Balcony that provides an excellent view of the action on Fremont St. and the lightshow.
The room I was in didn't have a very inspiring view but then again I didn't spend much time staring out of hotel room windows.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nice hotel at the end of Freemont Street. Clean, friendly and the best paying slots in the downtown area and probably one of the best paying in Las Vegas. Rates are very reasonable as is the food.
Fitzgerald's in downtown Vegas...
Fitzgerald's in downtown Vegas is only $19/night for a decent 2-bed room. If you don't mind driving to the strip or waiting for the bus, definitely stay downtown!
Nice hotel!
The employees here were so friendly and on top of things. Nothing escaped their attention. The hotel itself is very nice. Of course, we only stumbled in to sleep and then left immediately after waking, but it was a nice place to sleep!
Unfortunately, I can't say how much the hotel costs because I got a huge employee discount at the time. It could be outrageously expensive for all I know.
Unique Quality: It's not on the main drag, but Fremont Street turned out to have its own attractions.
You should try to stay...
You should try to stay downtown at either the Plaza, the Las Vegas Club or Fitzgeralds. The rooms are nice and the price is very, very reasonable. Why would someone pay a couple hundred a night to stay in a fancy, strip hotel when you could pay between $25 to $39 per night to stay downtown. Exactly how much time are you going to spend in the room anyway? Surely not a few hundred dollars worth. You could use that extra cash to gamble or try all the cuisine Las Vegas have to offer. $25 US Dollars per night
Unique Quality: Very reasonable prices Right downtown Swimming Pools Restaurants Fremont Experience
Fitzgeralds
We managed to get our room for $45/night at a pretty busy time of year. Since our stay they have repeatedly sent us offers for free nights (including some weekends - that's rare).
Unique Quality: Great price. Great for viewing the Fremont Street Experience. Excellent service. Fun casino. Lots of nickle slots. And one of the few places where you can play three-card-poker. Slot club is OK.
We spent 4 nights at Fitzgerlds Casino & Hotel Feb 9th through Feb 13th and had a very pleasent experience. Accomodations were more the adequate. Our room had a free complimentry valuables safe and a great view of the sourounding area. Hotel employees were very friendly and efficient. While the slots did not treat me very well my sister hit the "Nickle Mania "progressive twice for over $550.00. The Fremont Experience light show and easy access to the other downtown casinos was a nice change from the glitz of the strip.l
Great price. Great for viewing the Fremont Street Experience. Excellent service. Fun casino. Lots of nickle slots. And one of the few places where you can play three-card-poker. Slot club is OK.
