Blue Man Group & Horse-riding!

by Hel27

My mother & I are coming to Las Vegas over thanksgiving for a week from the UK. We are going to the Rodeo.
Can anyone recommend somewhere to go horse riding? A trek out to see some scenery would be great, possibly for a couple of hours??
Also,I have seen the Blue Man Group is on at the Venetian. Can anyone tell me if they are any good?
Thank you!

It's been a while (maybe 3-4 years) but I did see the Blue Man Group at the Venetion and it was very good! I, myself, prefer seeing a Cirque de Soleil show (which I also did) because I find them more interesting. As for as horseback riding goes, I have no clue. As for scenery - there isn't much. Maybe if you can figure out a trip to the Grand Canyon, they have mule/donkeys that go down a narrow dirt trail. You would have spectacular scenery to view. I don't have any tips posted for the Grand Canyon but I do have pics and tips for Vegas on my Las Vegas travel page. Have fun!

There is plenty to see around Vegas, including the Hoover Dam and perhaps a Death Valley tour or red Rock/Valley of Fire tour. Here are a few options.

The Blue Man Group does have a nice show at the Venetian. There are several Blue Man Groups, around the country, but generally the Venetian show is the best. I agree with the others, that the Cirque du Soleil shows are probablu better. Here are both for a look.

Travel Tips for Las Vegas

When Visiting Las Vegas

by Chrisso68

We've just got back from my sisters wedding at Caesars Palace and had a ball!
Let me tell you it is so hot, dry and hot!!
All the locals were telling us we haven't felt hot yet, it gets up to 118degF/ high 40's C average in July, so stay indoors as much as you can!
Get out and see the Strip, it gets dark about 8pm so head on out about 7.30 for the light shows
As for food, The Buffet at Caesars Palace is the best in Vegas in our opinion, truly the freshest nicest buffet we had!only $25 a head, we had our reception dinner there.
For a six star dining experience and the best meal I have ever had in my life,(I know,a big call)go to Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse. The Crab cakes, fillet mignon, crab legs, wine, all truly amazing!!
Make sure you save plenty of time for shopping, Las Vegas Premium Outlets is the place to shop, all the name brands and prices you wont believe!!!
Have fun, hope this helps!! Spending a wonderful week overseas with my wife and family and great friends, Having the best meal I have ever had in my life,(I know,a big call)at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse. The Crab cakes, fillet mignon, crab legs, wine, all truly amazing!!, meeting heaps of awesome locals and the shopping.

Line pass...most important tip 'ever'

by mapakettle

Always ask for a line pass from VIP services (slot club counter) at your favourite casino if you plan on eating there. The pass allows you to walk to the front of the line at the buffet, and you will be immediately passed through. Anyone can get one if you possess a players card (be confident, be polite) they're free, and you feel like a king when you use it. Ignore the grumblings from the people in line, if they joined VT, then they would also have inside knowledge. BEST TIP EVER, TRUST ME. The food.

Do the rides at the top of the Stratosphere! The World's highest roller coaster and the negative 'G' needle. Do the roller coaster first or it is anticlimatic. The photo is of me on top of the new Clark County Detention Center (County Jail) with the Stratosphere behind me. We are one of the subcontractors working on it and I paid a site visit. Winning $1200.00 on a slot machine during my bachelor party!

Hotels or plants?

by Martinewezel

The hotels on the Strip are like huge factories.
If you have only one bag you won't have any problems carrying it yourself, but if you have more luggage, the easyest way is to have it brought to your room. Don't overlook the large distances between the parking lot and your room. Often you'll need a 10 minutes walk criss cross between the slots and the gamblers before reaching the elevators.

Bill Breaking Machines in Casinos

by sue_stone

There are these very cool kiosks in all the casinos - ok, maybe they are common place in your lives, but I had never seen anything quite like them before. They have 3 uses - an ATM, Ticket Redemption and Bill Breaking.

The ticket redemption option is used to cash in any winnings you may have on the slot machines - when you press the take your winnings button a ticket spits out from the slot machine and you can convert it to cash at this magic money machine. The ATM part means you can withdraw lots of money to gamble away, but when the machine gives you a couple of large notes you are in luck - this is where the bill breaking function comes in. You can put a large note into the machine and it will give you smaller notes. And you can tell it what combination of notes you would like. You can even put smaller notes in there (say a $5) and it will give you 5 x $1, which are perfect for a quick flutter on the slot machines or the endless tipping.

A: "West Rim is closer to Las Vegas, but is a huge tourist trap. It isn't actually located inside Grand Canyon National Park. It's a privately run casino / resort type place."
