Top of the World Restaurant - Stratosph

by coopieclan

We've a reservation at Top of the World Restaurant - Stratosphere Hotel for 7:45pm on the 4th of July. We're hoping to have a lovely dinner with a view of the fireworks.

Any suggestions? Who should we tip and how much to get a good table? any menu favorites?

Thanks

Yeah..call the restaurant and tell them that you have a reservation and ASK for a table with a nice view. VERY doubtful that you will get a great table the day of if you have not planned ahead! Call today!

We were there last year and had to wait about an hour for our table. There really aren't any bad tables since the seating is tiered and revolves. I wouldn't tip extra for a "good" table. Tip for the meal like you would normal. I can't recall exactly what we ate, but the six of us had various items and I don't recall anybody unhappy.

I would get there early and get a good table in the bar that way if your table is late you can still get a good view of the fireworks while waiting. Don't give up your table in the bar until they tell you can be seated at your dinner table. They told us 45 min and we all got up to check, lost our great bar table, only to be told it would be another 20 minutes. Lost our bar table so had to stand with no view.

Luckly the fireworks last a long time and are all over the valley so as you turn you can see them in all directions. Being late for our table actually worked out better as otherwise I think we might have been done when they started on the strip. As it was we were looking directly up the strip when they started and had a ring side view of the entire display.

It is a great way to spend the 4th. Just to warn you, the food is $$$$$$. Drinks at the bar weren't to bad though.

Travel Tips for Las Vegas

Fiori di Como

by Etoile2B

Any trip to Vegas needs to be highlighted by a trip to the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. The ceiling in the lobby is an original Chihuly. Some tourists say it was inspired by the sea, but the artist himself said that Steve Wynn's commission called for "a whole new armature type and about a thousand new “flowers.” So don't forget to stop by and "smell" the flowers when you're in Vegas.

The strip has so many cool places to see i can't really name just one....well the coolest free show is in front of Treasure Island....it is a pirate ship battle..very exciting...lots of explosions....and it is FREE!! The whole trip was great...i suppose the best part would have to be gambling in all of the different casinos..or even just walking through the casinos...they are all decorated and fun to look at!

I haven't been in over 20 yrs. and need some suggestions on the hottest shows, clubs, restaurants etc. I remember the trip to Hoover Dam the most and the games at Circus Circus because that is all I could do since I was a minor.

The Hotels in Las Vegas

by joiwatani

When you are going to Las Vegas, make sure to book your hotels ahead of time. When you show up at the hotel without reservation, the hotel costs are much higher.

When you are driving to Las Vegas, it is better to check on the websites and compare prices. Then have a reservation because you will save almost 40 percent of the costs. This happen to my sister and my siblings. They drove to Las Vegas and I told them to book ahead of time, but they didn't listen. The prices at Excalibur and Circus Circus for a double bed room was only $55.00. By the time they arrived in Las Vegas that day, the costs jumped to $99.00 per night.

They could have save a lot of money and that would have taken cared of their meals for that night!

Make sure to do your research. Most hotels right now are cutting of their prices because of the economy.

The Venetian Hotel are offering $179.00 per night of their presidential suites - which would have cost $1,000 per night...The room has a jacuzzi and has all the amenities inside. Moreover, the Venetial Hotel is also offering meal coupons! This will save the traveller a lot of money on the cost of meals... We love watching the free shows in Las Vegas. We have been here so many times but we don't get tired just walking around the strip at night. More so, every year, there are new hotels and shopping malls being built. This year, there is the M Hotel and the Trump Tower!

We had so much fun exploring new hotels in Las Vegas...

Also, there is a new landmark built just recently. So, now, there is the Las Vegas landmark built in front of the Strip and they also had built parking spaces in the middle of the road where you can park your car and can go take pictures as remembrance of Las Vegas...

Over the top glitz & glamor is the norm

by shrimp56

The exquisite details in the middle of so much glitz. On the left is part of the glass ceiling construction by the artist Dale Chihuly that graces the Bellagio lobby. On the right is the area between the front door and checkin at The Venetian. Very different, but both stunning.
