Sunday football

by ChgoKid

Some friends and I will be in Vegas the first weekend of DEC. We always go to Mainstreet Station for Monday night football but haven't found any Sunday NFL parties since they did away with the Ellis Island party years ago. I heard the Hilton has a nice one, any other suggestions?

Re: Sunday football

Almost every casino worth its salt has a big "sportsbook" area, where you can catch every game on big screen TVs. I cannot imagine you not finding a place for a football party. Football gambling is a huge thing in Vegas.

I realize that but in the past, casino's like Ellis island dedicated a banquet room with a special buffet, drink specials, prizes and big screen tv,s all over the place. I've been to Vegas enough times to know that if I want to watch football in a sports book, I can walk into any casino and do that.
Thanks for the advice though.

My apologies compadre. I should have read between the lines....d:o)

Well, I looked, and it appears that they are reviving this tradition you talk about. I Googled Vegas football parties. Surprising number of stuff showed up.

Of course I am not sure this is what you are looking for, but after reviewing this stuff, I am going to plan at least one weekend of Vegas football.....

Travel Tips for Las Vegas

Vegas!

by journeygirl3

You are going to have a fantastic time! As for hotels, I would check out the hotel reviews on travel forums as they really do indicate how good a hotel is. There are so many great hotels in vegas too so it really depends on your taste.
The canyon is a long drive, 8 hours I think from Vegas. If you have a week to spend there, I would go for it!

Best Las Vegas forum

by ZanieOR

The Las Vegas Talk forum!!
The best possible advice I can give to anyone going to Las Vegas is to visit my favorite and the busiest LV forum on the Internet.
I've been a member since way back when I was planning my first trip, and while its come a long way technologically, some of the same people are still there. In fact I attended a LVTalk meet at Luxor the last time I was in town, and met one woman I'd been in touch with for years.
There are literally hundred of questions asked and answered per week about every facet of Las Vegas by both locals and fanatics. Whenever I've been planning a trip to LV you could find me on the forum daily.
Oh, the address is www.lasvegastalk.com

Another excellent Internet site is www.lvol.com (Las Vegas On Line) It has reviews of all the hotels and shows.

Shop at the Alladin Desert...

by marstoearth

Shop at the Alladin Desert Passage. It is like being in another world. And they have little bicycle rickshaws to take you from place to place if your feet give out. The driver's work on tips only. Loved the Roc's Nest Bar there too. It is on a Mezzanine that looks out over the casino and the lounge with free shows. Also, check out the lounge and find out when they have the customers belly dance contest. That was a hoot. I didn't win, but I did get a free T-Shirt. Also, don't miss the view from the Stratosphere Tower. Even those who suffer from acrophobia should be able to enjoy it as they have viewing areas both inside a glassed area and outside. Too many favorites to mention though. Loved the delicious meal we had at the Cheesecake Factory behind the far fountain at Caesar's Palace. Don't let the name fool you. It has gourmet meals. Makes my mouth water now just thinking about it. Reasonable prices too. And right next door is Virgin Records where you can listen to any of their CD's. Not just snippets of tracks, but the whole thing. There are lots and lots of headphones. Great when you want to know whether to invest in a CD and have only heard one cut off of it.

Players Club Cards

by St_Vincent

Two suggestions about using players club cards that might seem obvious, firstly remember to put the card in before you start playing and more importantly DON'T walk away from the machine without it. I've lost count of the number of times I have foolishly done this. To combat this you'll see a lot of people who have their cards on an extendable keyring clipped to their belt. It seems like a good idea but I'm afraid I was never that organised.

Book the Cirque du Soleil ahead of time

by joiwatani

Last year when we came here, I booked our tickets for the Mystere Show of the Cirque du Soleil at the Treasure Island Hotel. The cost was only $85 per person at that time. And we had good seating! My family enjoyed the show so much that we wanted to see another show ot the Cirque du Soleil.

So, this time that we went to Las Vegas again, we didn't really had the plan of watching the original Cirque Du Soleil at Bellagio Hotel. But since we had so much time on our hand, my children and I went back to Bellagio Hotel and chance if we could buy our tickets.

We went at Bellagio Hotel at 6 pm because the show starts at 7:30 pm. The show is already booked. So, we tried the next show which was at 10:30 pm and that show is also sold out!

My children were kind of disappointed so we just walked around the block and at the strip until it was about time for us to go back to Henderson.

Make sure to book the shows ahead of time because you will save a lot of money. The tickets at that time was already $110 per person. Even if we were willing to pay that much, the show was already sold out! Each time we come to Las Vegas, we see different kinds of shows. But this time, we didn't because we lack planning...But, still we had fun going to visit the Conservatory at the Bellagio Hotel and saw the Chuihully's glass artworks.

A: "West Rim is closer to Las Vegas, but is a huge tourist trap. It isn't actually located inside Grand Canyon National Park. It's a privately run casino / resort type place."
