Hilton Las Vegas: Off the strip value
The Hilton Las Vegas is located right off the Strip. If you travel north on the strip, before you reach the Stratosphere, you will turn right and it can be easily seen due to its dimensions.
The Hilton is classy, friendly and has a touch of elegance all over it. It's a regular hotel, by regular I mean it is not a themed hotel.
The parking lot is pretty big and there is no problem finding a spot.
The entrance is similar to all the hotels in Vegas: the first thing you see is the casino.
One thing that I must say is :get a car. See, me and my wife thought, by looking at the maps we had, it would have been a very short trip on foot from the Hilton to the strip.
The first day we almost died. Streets are bigger than they seem on a map, especially when the temperature is over 100 degrees (fahrenheit).
Howevr, you can use the trolleys that stroll back and forth the strip and they also stop at the Hilton. But sometimes it might be tough to wait under the sun and they are pretty hot inside when crowdy (always). After 2 days we decided to rent a car.
Anyway the Hilton is off the strip but not too far from it. The casino inside is big and well kept. Well arranged too, with a pretty sparkling life at night. Although I planned to go to a different casino every night (7 nights), I spent a couple of nights at the Hilton casino and actually found it to be one of the best.
What we both really liked is that the rooms are spacious. Note that we went into a regualr standard room, nothing fancy. But it was wide, full of space, comfortable.
Inside the Hilton offers some restaurants that we did not try as we were almost always somewhere else. However I have to mention Margaritaville Cafe'. Nice happy hours with huge bowls of Margaritas and complimentary nachos.
Unique Quality: The pool is not as huge as some of the hotel pools in the strip. But we live in Florida, so the pool was the last of our targets. Anyway, the pool service is very good; the only thing is that the pool can get pretty crowdy and sometimes there might not be enough room for you to swim in the water.
If it happens, don't get aggravated and do as I did: lay down on the deck chair, enjoy a cocktail and study your blackjack strategy...
Oh, inside the hotel there is the attraction: Star Trek: the experience. Funny experience.

Adjoining the Convention Centre
Love this casino, rooms are great, but cater to the businessman on an expense account, therefore I find prices a 'bit' too high in general terms.
This is an all round resort, and a person would not need to leave the property if they had no desire to.
Casino is well lit, more than most, but I find it rather smokey, but they have good slot machines.
Good restaurants, a step above the average for regular meals, and great Italian and Chinese close by. (unable to remember the names, but cater to convention business, always busy)
Unique Quality: Good all round facilities...golf etc. Unfortunately, the hotel is located a little off the beaten track, and a taxi is required to visit most other casinos.

Always a great deal
We've always found a great deal at the Hilton. They run the best specials of any non-downtown hotel in Vegas (possibly because it's off-strip and you pretty much have to have a car to get anywhere).
Our rooms are always very clean & nice, and we've been upgraded before without asking. The rooms are as nice as any Strip hotel I've stayed in (much bigger than some, like Treasure Island).
In a nutshell, you're paying downtown prices for a strip-worthy room. A great deal and a good place to lay your head when planning to spend most of the day Strip-crawling.
Visit the website to see the deals currently running and sign up for email updates of deals. I like the feature that you can see when each deal is valid on a little calendar.
Unique Quality: I really like the Star Trek ride & museum, and I've seen very little of the tv show. It was definitely the most "interactive" ride I've ever been on. Sometimes the hotel runs deals that include free admission to this: I recommend those, because admission is like $25 otherwise I think.
The pool is nice although one day they had to drain it because of a little kid doing you know what in it!!
The hotel also has a Benihana, which I've not tried, but that's always fun.

Las Vegas Hilton
I won a trip to Vegas for 4th of July weekend. We are staying at the Las Vegas Hilton. Has anyone ever stayed there? How is it? Any information is appreciated.
Re: Las Vegas Hilton
Congratulations
Not stayed there, but LOVE the Star Trek exhibiton! It is slightly off the main strip but I'm sure it will be fine, especially since it is a prize
Re: Las Vegas Hilton
Yes -- though I much prefer to stay at the Flamingo Hilton because of location.
The LVH is a convention hotel so you'll need to take a taxi or other means to get over the "the Strip." It is very nice as a hotel. If you like Star Trek you will be in the right place as it has a huge dedication to the theme.
Just don't miss seeing the grand casino hotels like Venecian, Paris, Bellagio, Mirage, etc. (see my pages).
Congratulations on the trip! That is how I went the first time many years ago!

Re: Las Vegas Hilton
NOT STAYED THERE BUT HAD A LOOK AROUND LAST MONTH AND IT LOOKS A VERY NICE HOTEL.
IT IS A GOOD 20-25 MINUTE WALK TO THE CENTER OF THE STRIP BUT IF YOUR LUCKY THE NEW STRIP MONORAIL WHICH HAS A STATION RIGHT BY THE HILTON HOTEL MIGHT BE OPEN BY THE TIME YOUR THERE WHICH WILL BE GREAT FOR GETTING UP AND DOWN THE STRIP.
Re: Re: Las Vegas Hilton
CORRECTION:
The LVH is a convention hotel (next to the LV Convention Center) so you'll need to take a taxi or other means to get over TO the "the Strip."

Only stayed one night, but the place was great. I checked in at 10am and had no problems checking in that early, plus only had to wait in line for 5 minutes. Room was nice and clean. The sink is separate from toilet/shower/bath. Floor in bathroom is tiled and the rest of the room is carpet. The room had an area by the window in which you could work and write stuff. There was a keyboard on top of the television, so they may offer some internet thing, but i did not check it out. Being off-strip sucks, but it is still a nice hotel.
Re: Re: Las Vegas Hilton
Thanks...I didn't have a choice in hotel because I won the trip, but I am hoping the monorail will be running, or I will just take taxis. I'm just excited to be going...it's my first time in Vegas!
Re: Re: Las Vegas Hilton
You'll have a great time. My fiance and I stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton for 7 days - we were there for a convention. You might need to take a cab depending on where you want to go on the strip, but we generally braved the heat and walked wherever we wanted.
Like someone said previously, the rooms are nice and big, and the pool is awesome. We spent a lot of our free time there sipping cold drinks all day!
