Egypt in Nevada

We stayed here on our second trip.....for 4 days.......We had a ball...

the Luxor is BIG...from what i've read it is the second largest hotel in the world....although that's mainly because of the two huge towers that house most of the rooms...the main pyramid although immense doesn't seem as big as most of the other theme hotels on the strip...but it's big all the same....

We stayed in the pyramid...on the 26th floor I think....that's an amazing sight in itself....the whole pyramid is hollow and the rooms are accessed by balcony/corridors that seem to hang from the inside of the walls...you can look down to the main amusement floor....a long way down....

Unique Quality: Nice atmosphere...very new...clean....BIG

Good eateries...although we liked to catch the monorail to the Mandalay Bay to eat at our favourite buffet.....

Blue Man Group was the main show there...we didn't see it but my brother had seen them in New York and said they were amazing...We saw the adult show instead...we were impressed.....adult but still tasteful i guess you could describe it.....

The location is good.....at first you seem a bit cut off from the rest of the strip...but after discovering the monorail that connects Mandalay Bay, Luxor and the Alladin it becomes easy to get around....from the Alladin you can start your walk along the main strip.....

Luxor Hotel

The hotel was convenient to the strip and was reasonably priced. The interior was interesting in its decor and the room was nicely decorated. It did feel a little claustrophobic at times though.

Great value for a nice hotel

The rooms are well appointed and clean. As with most of the big hotel resorts on the strip there was a casino, a variety places to eat including buffet, 3 beautiful pools, and spa all on site.

Unique Quality: It's quite unique with alot of the rooms being in the large pyramid. The rooms are around the outside walls of the pyramid and from outside your room you can look at the inside of the pyramid, which is where the restaurants and casino are. Very cool!

You can get really good deals for this hotel on their website. We had a standard room and paid under $100/night.

Top suicide hotel !

A good hotel and well situated although only about 12 years old it is no longer one of the Premier Hotels --only because newer ones have cost billions .
Very Good .
We ate in various places --the Steak House is particuarly good here ,excellent quality ----staff ,food ,decor ---do book though .

Unique Quality: Do not stay in the pyramid if you feel depressed or are likely to loose all your possessions . The rooms are entered by balconies that overlook the Casino area and apparently there is an issue with suicides !
The Buffet was moved downstairs because of this !

Living like a Pharoh

Definitely one of the nicest mid-range priced places we've stayed at. The staff was quite friendly. The rooms have beautiful furniture. Watch out for vertigo when staying in the pyramid! You can find decent gambling here - some $5 tables for BJ and Pai Gow. Tipping $1 per drink keeps 'em coming!

The interior is cool - stays with the theme very well. Easy access to both the Excalibur and Mandalay Bay.

Prices have gone down here in the last few years. It is a great bargain.

Unique Quality: Didn't use the pool (went during winter). Riding the inclinator up to the room does feel a little strange.

Luxor Pyramid Room

We stayed at hotel Luxor on our first trip to Vegas. It's a nice place and we have no complaints. This Egyptian themed hotel is located at the southern end of the Strip, between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, close to MGM and New York New York. The checking-in went smoothly; we got one of the pyramid rooms. We heard before going that the tower rooms are newer but we thought it was cooler to stay in the pyramid. The pyramid's elevators are at an angle (they are called inclinators) and they make for an interesting ride. The room had all the necessary amenities, was clean and spacious, the beds comfortable. On each floor there were drinks and ice machines. The lobby is very impressive. There's plenty of parking spaces in the back. They have a nice pool area, I was surprised at first to see that the water is so shallow but then I saw that it is the same all over Vegas. If you're staying here try the Pharaoh's Pheast Buffet, we were very pleased with it.

Luxor

The Luxor is an Egyptian themed hotel on the south end of the Strip. Its pretty easy to recognize with its pyramid structure and mammoth pharoah sculpture on the exterior.

The Luxor is the location for seeing the highly recommended Blue Man Group. As Vegas Strip hotels go, prices are on the more affordable end and rooms seemed pretty nice. I didn't end up staying here, but I looked into it and it seemed like a cool place to lodge for a couple of nights.

The lower level of the Luxor is its non-gambling entertainment center. Being a non-gambler, I enjoyed this area. There are several virtual rides, an IMAX theatre and a walk through exhibit of King Tut's Tomb which has some interesting artifacts (I'll explain more aboiut that one in a separate tip). On this lower level, you'll also find the Chapel at Luxor, should you have the urge to get married after experiencing the motion sickness of those rides or the opulence of King Tut.

Luxor has about a dozen restaurants, as every large Las Vegas Strip hotel is required to do, ranging from fairly pricey to inexpensive. The Pharoah's Pheast Buffet is another eating option.

Unique Quality: The decor, in scale as well as design, the entertainment area and the elevators which are on an incline due to the strucure of the building

Good Hotel in Vegas

Our stay at the Luxor was very nice. All of the staff was pleasant. They have a very large and nice pool. It is towards the end of the strip but the hotel is reasonably priced because of that. If you are planning on walking then you should find a hotel closer to the center of the strip.

Unique Quality: There are two areas of the Luxor, the Pyramid and the Tower. The Pyramid is what you always see in the pictures. If you can, get a room in there. The Tower is a seperate building right next to the Pyramid. It is newer, but isn't as unique.

luxor hotel

I'll be staying with my husband at the Luxor hotel this summer, and i was wondering what was the best: choosing a room in the pyramid ( it seems a lot of fun to take their inclined elevators, but the rooms look pretty tiny....) or choosing a room in one of their towers (they look much bigger on the Internet site, with nicer furniture.). Has anyone experienced both? Which one can offer the best view?
We'll be travelling from France, so we're really concerned with the quality of our stay!
Thanks for your help!

We had a room in the pyramid facing the Excalibur and the room was certainly large enough. Huge bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. I would probably recommend the pyramid for the novelty of it and ask for a room facing the strip though the view isn't a big deal since you probably won't be spending much time in your room.

I Stayed In A Pyramid Room Last Year And Though The Rooms Are Smaller Than In The Tower I Would Hardly Call Them Small And I Did Had A Great View Of The Mountains.

If You Do Stay In The Pyramid And Want To Use The Inclinator Lift Be Sure To Get A High Floor Because I Was On The 3rd Floor Which Uses Just A Normal Elevator And Unless You Have A Room Key You Are Not Allowed In The Inclinators Which Have A Security Guard At Every One.

I stayed in the tower closest to the Excalibur this past May. The room was very nice and I would say it was average size. The view was good out of the North Tower. The pyramid is definitely a shorter walk to most of the hotel's attractions.

Stayed in a Pyramid room, and it was nice - even though I spent very little time in it.

I highly recommend the Pina Colodas at the pool. And the spa is nice, too.
