| | | | |
I've stayed at the MGM several times and plan to do so again this year!! I have visted most of the other hotels on and off of the strip, but for this price, you get a suite where you would get a regular room like at Caesar's for example. It sure is huge but thats what I love about it, Emeril and Wolf Gang Puck both have restaurants inside the hotel, not to mention the Rain Forest Cafe among others plus many more places for the kids like MCDonalds. Everytime I go to vegas (every year ), I want to try out new hotels, but the MGM had never failed me!! I dont want to stay anywhere else! I recommend it to everyone and all my friends.! :)
The great View of the strip is only one quality of this hotel/casino. They have a lion habitat, several Swimming pools ( I cant even count them), a food court, a club, and a free shuttle that takes you around the vegas strip for the days if the heat is too much to walk! The rooms are of a good size (hint: if affordable and traveling with more than one family, check out the "Marquee Suite", it has 2 separate bedrooms on opposite ends of the suite with full sized bathrooms for each. The Suite also holds a bar, living room, and dining room, with plenty of space for more than one family. check out the 360 view on the mgmgrand.com website) You will be treated like a King and Queen and get individual attention when needed at the MGM....I did not get that feeling at other Major named hotels on the strip, Besides bumping into famous boxing champions while walking around this hotel, I have had nothing but great experiences at this hotel...my family has been going for about 8 years now. We have tried to stay at other hotels, but only to come right back to this hotel :) Leave a Comment

 | | | | Mgm Grand Hotel & Casino: Don’t book MGM Grand Las Vegas from the web-7/06
| | | | |
If you book with online promo with MGM Grand LV you can end up like we did and get moved more than a mile off from the strip, and they don’t care about you or your vacation. When we got to the hotel to check in, the line was 20 people deep clear across the entire lobby, we waited in line for over an hour and while we were in line we were wondering why it was taking so long for it to move. Then when we finally got to the front desk clerk it became all to clear why the line was moving so slowly, many people (including us) were getting bumped to some crummy hotel miles away from the strip. I did my best to complain and demand that we don’t get moved but all the managers would say is that they reserve the right to bump us to any other hotel they choose, frequently saying to us “I completely Understand” so after complaining for 20 minutes it was very clear that we had no choice. We had to ask for money for the cab to take us to our new hotel and we had to fight for some sort of compensation which turned out to be $50.00 credit for a food room charge but no matter what they offered it could not make up for halving to go somewhere we didn’t want to stay. For us our itinerary was ruined most of our two day stay was spent complaining to hotel management standing in long lines and being told by hotel staff that we complained to “I Completely Understand”! We also called up United Escape reservations and told them out plight, the lady called up MGM but she could not help us and basically told us the same story the MGM management told, neither United Escape nor MGM cared about us. On the second day we checked into the West Wing room and check in wasn’t until 3PM. When we finally got to the room it was like a modern mausoleum, it was dark, small, air conditioner barley kept up with the heat, no inside door, the bed was too stiff, also, in the morning the housekeeping just let herself into the room while we were sleeping waking us up at 9AM.

 | | | | Mgm Grand Hotel & Casino: Great for Families
| | | | |
MGM is a beautiful and huge, hotel. There are many restaurants to choose from including a food court that was perfect for a quick breakfast. Our room at MGM was very comfortable and clean, we enjoyed it very much. However, despite making our reservation 5 mths in advance, we only had a view of a brick wall. I was very irrated with the check in service. It took about 45 minutes to check in and get to our room. Also, the shuttle from the airport was not available when we got in around 11 pm. It was suppose to be available. Because we had to wait for a cab, it took about 45 minutes to get to the hotel when is should have only taken 15. All this at 100 + degrees. By the time we got in bed, it was 1:30 am.
Perfect for families with kids around 11 and 9. The river pool has the best lazy river I have ever seen. You can rent rafts for a whopping $14/day or you can just float. There is a great waterfall at this pool, as well. The lion habitat was entertaining for our kids as well and there is an arcade. Location is superior. It is close to several other family oriented hotels/casinos, such as the Luxor, Excaliber and New York, New York., and it is close to the airport. Also across the street from Tropicana where black jack tables are cheaper. There is a food court with great quick breakfast selections. I would run down and pick up breakfast for everyone and we would eat in our room. This saved us money. | | | | Mgm Grand Hotel & Casino: World's Largest Hotel
| | | | |
The largest hotel on the Strip, the MGM Grand is just that- Grand. Get ready to do a lot of walking in this hotel. From your hotel room to the pool area, you could easily walk at least 1/4 of a mile. But if you don't mind all of the walking, this hotel is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in.
Perks: The Lion Habitat, a skybridge over to the New York New York, a shuttle that will take you directly to Bally's, 5 pools (one is a winding river), 2 shopping areas, countless restaurants (including McDonald's for the money strapped traveler) & an immense Casino. Pitfalls: If you just want a place to sleep at night, you may want to go somewhere else. This hotel is made for people who love to check out there own hotel before venturing out onto the Strip. Also, if your room is in the smaller tower, you will have to walk down a VERY long hallway just to get to your room. Spend the extra money and stay in the larger tower! Personal Favorite: I loved this hotel, but my 2 favorite things would have to be the view of the Bellagio Fountains from our room & the distinct smell of the shopping area on the way to the pool area. I still haven't figured out what that smell was... :) Leave a Comment

 | | | | Mgm Grand Hotel & Casino: Pick a definitive spot to meet
| | | | |
The casino is a monster, so be sure you know where exactly you are going to meet. I stayed in the Emerald Tower, which was a bit older, but also quite a bit cheaper. Check-in was not too busy, but the desk staff did have several problems trying to transfer our reservation to a different credit card. Other than that, the service was pretty good. Due to the higher table limits, we didn't gamble much here, and when we did, it was at the machines - drink service was almost non-existent. Buffet is OK, but a bit overpriced for what you get.
Be sure to check out the lion habitat to see if they're actually awake. The pool area is awesome. Spent all of the time floating along the lazy river. A bit crowded, but a great way to cool off. Leave a Comment
