Your basic stop

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 8, 2003

The price was right, it was my first time visiting Vegas, I didn't know any better!!!

Maybe it's just me, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the basic trappings of my room. When you enter the hotel you are in a grand lobby with innumerable check-in locations lining what seems to be a football field length counter. Just past the elevators is the casino, and around the corner you reach the shops and restaurants. All you see when you enter the hotel is glitz and glam, but open the door to your room and "Hello!" you're at a business hotel along some highway tripping over the double/double beds. Ish!

The spa was minimalist, we went to Mandalay Bay's spa instead. Luxurious!!

Unique Quality: Oh, the view we had! Look at my picture....

What you can't see is the gigantic 3' flood lights lining the roof over the casino. These beauties are aimed at the side of the building, presumably to illuminate it at night. I'm not sure why they need to illuminate my 3rd floor window which can not be seen from anywhere along the strip. They could have masked the lights so they only lit up those areas visible from the strip.

Elegance with a playground!

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

To put into words the size of the monte Carlo is impossible. It is huge with every conceivable thing in it a hotel could have and more! We found it to be in an excellent location on the strip for visiting other hotels, shops, nightlife etc.. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable and clean. The staff were all very helpful and mindful of privacy!

Unique Quality: The Monte Carlo has an awesome pool area. A big casino, a food court, restaurants, free parking, room service, a bar, a brewery, wedding chappel, vegas shows, shopping mall and lobby shop.

Directions: Inbetween the New York New York and the Bellagio Hotel/casino

Great value 4 star hotel

by written on January 9, 2003

The Monte Carlo hotel has an excellent location right on the Strip - between New York and the Bellagio. It is even possible to see the Bellagio fountains from some of the rooms.

High rooms have a great view - from floor 28 and up. Rooms are not too big but rather comfortable. Decoration is more elegant than in lower class hotels like the Excalibur. A positive point is that rooms are not too noisy.

Check-in at busy times can easily take 30 minutes standing in a line. In my case, no high room was available - I had to wait 3 hours until one was cleaned.

The hotel service is average - hotel staff is most often cold, not very polite and overall not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

Having said that, the location, quality of the rooms and stylish facilities make the Monte Carlo an excellent option to get a great Vegas experience.

Price is around US$55 during the week - and a lot more during peak season (e.g. Christmas and New Year). I recommend making your reservation on expedia.com to get the best rates.

However, should you want a truly luxurious stay, I would suggest looking at the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay hotels - truly amazing but rather expensive - even on expedia.com.

Hotels everywhere

by written on August 25, 2002

Las vegas is basically made up of Hotel-casino complexes. Whereever you see casino, that's alo a hotel. Wherever you see Hotel, that's also a casino,

Unique Quality: It would be a waist of your time to stay in one of those hotels and remain in your room like Michale Jackson! :-)

Go downstairs and look around. Most of those Hotel-casinos have their own swimming pool, bar and many interesting people. If you have some spare cash, try your luck at the slots. Above all: HAVE FUN!

Directions: You can's miss these hotel-casinos. They're huge. Like the stardust or Montecarlo or the famous Flamingo.

This is the Monte Carlo and this is where I stayed on my visit in APril .
Vegas' rates fluctuate so depending on when you go you can get a great rate or a broke before I even gamble rate . The lowest time during the week for check-in , so long as it is not a holiday period is Sunday through Thursday .

Directions: on the strip . this hotel has a monorail that connects to the Bellagio - try it , it will save you some time walking .

Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino

Unique Quality: A sight to see, right from the entrance with its Renaissance statues and cascading fountains to the 90,000-square-foot casino! 3,014 rooms and 256 suites! I stayed in one of the suites! Custom-designed 1,200-seat theatre, 3,000-square-foot exercise room (an official Reebok facility) Dining for every occasion it seemed, and shops, even a wedding chapel! The layout of the whole facility is one of the best in Las Vegas. It truly is one of the few hotels you will not get lost in! I stayed here for my wedding, and had the time of my life!!!

In 1999, I stayed in the Monte Carlo with one of my best friends and her sister and we had a nice time in the hotel! The hotel is classy and elegant to say the least. Very European!
$70-120. Sometimes they have good deals so it's best to check with them. Try to go to Vegas Mondays through Thursdays. Rates skyrocket during the weekends!

Directions: South part of the strip. There's a monorail to Bellagio.
