Not on the strip, but...
As I was in Las Vegas for 3 months during the summer for work, I was not fortunate enough to stay in one of the hotels on the strip as that would not be compliant with my work expenses, and since they pay for it blah blah blah... Anyway, there are two Residence Inns on Paradise Ave. which is about 2 blocks from the strip, and I stayed at the one across from the convention center. Nice place. Decent pool. It's an extended stay since they are suites and basically 2 bedroom apts. Regardless, if you don't have an urging desire to stay on the strip and you don't need to be able to walk out of your hotel door and down a flight of stairs to a slot machine, then this is the place. But if you're looking to have a truly good time, then yeah, you need to stay on the strip.
Unique Quality: You do get all the conventioners with its location, and there is a nite club next door that seems to be quite popular on the weekends.
