Time Zone

A side trip to Hoover Dam is always a fun diversion after spending hours in the windowless casino's. Hoover dam crosses the Colorado River and one side of the river is Western Time Zone, Nevada and the other side is Mountain Time Zone, Arizona.
One evening you just have to...

One evening you just have to see the dancing waters in front of the Bellagio. See them by night for the best effect. They dance to italian opera music, brings a tear to the eye. And its free !! Just enjoy the glitz, glamour and pazzazz of the place. Disneyland for adults. Each hotel is a different theme park.
The first thing you have to do...

The first thing you have to do when you get to Vegas is walk down the strip. It doesn't matter whether it's day or night, drop the luggage and set off. You'll wander around, your jaw dropping as you take in the fantastic hotels and the buzz of activity. Vegas is a 24 hour city. The place never stops, and as a result there is a real addictive buzz about the place.
Stay up all night if you can, nothing changes, people sit all night in the casino's and nothing ever shuts.
When I got home to the UK, everything shuts at 11pm!
Downtown and Neon Lights
by sue_stone
With just a couple of days to explore Las Vegas, we had more than enough to see in the Strip area. But deciding to go and see the Rat Pack show one evening at the Plaza Hotel & Casino meant a trip downtown.
This visit to the heart of downtown Vegas became one of the highlights of the trip. This is where it all began, over a century ago. I don't think I have ever seen so many bright, flashing lights and neon signs in such a small area.
You can't miss the amazing Fremont Street Experience (see Things to do tip) with its sound and light shows. And you will see some of the famous old casinos, like the Golden Nugget and Binion's, the later home to a 'zero-limit' betting policy. I also really loved all the giant neon signs, especially the one at the entrance to Fremont Street East of a giant martini glass. Along Fremont Street you will also see the famous Vegas Vic neon cowboy outside the Pioneer Casino, and the neon Glitter Gulch cowgirl advertising a girlie-show.
Big honkin' hallways

The MGM is big ... no, make that *Grand*. Heeh.
With a hotel that big you're going to do a lot of walking to get to your room. I couldn't resist taking a picture of the loooooooooong hallway. While walking down the loooooooooong hallway to get to our room, we encountered half-naked drunk college guys. It was very bizarre.
