Best hotel deals

by Lady_Godiva

Hi VTers,

Last summer I stayed at the MGM Grand with some friends and we got a fabulous deal which amongst other things (free tube at the 'river', $25 chip) included free buffet access 3 times a day. Does anyone know what websites I can sign up to to keep an eye out for similar specials? I've signed up to MGM Grand but was wondering if there were any others? Am happy to stay at any casino really as long as it's on the strip and has a lazy river!

I find that I enjoy the Mandalay Bay and the lazy river, but not only that the whole outside playground with a wave pool and sand beach, regular pools and cabanas, snack bar and enough lounge chairs for everyone, all in the same area. Great hotel, bars, restaurants and casino. See their website: http://www.mandalaybay.com/thingstodo/beach.aspx

If it is deals only that you are looking for then go to website:http://www.vegashotelspecial.com/

Great, thanks for that website. Yes, I've been looking at the Mandalay Bay pool area - it sounds amazing! Would definitely like to stay there this time around. As Mandalay Bay is part of the MGM email subscription, I should get 'special deals' emails regarding that hotel as well. But I've signed up to the link you provided me as well. Fingers crossed we'll get an equally as good deal this year!

Oops, my email bounced. It looks like I can only send it to your non-VT email address from mine. If you are interested let me know your regular email addy. Send it to my vtmail addy so neither of us has to publicize our email.

A vacation rental might be more comfortable for you, as there are lots of well priced condos and vacation houses with pool and every amenity a hotel offers, except....they offer increased privacy and the ability to cook if you want to save some money.

try http://www.suitedcribs.com

they seem to offer some beautiful houses in the las vegas area that might serve as a good alternative to hotels

Travel Tips for Las Vegas

is the room REALLY just for sleeping?

by LIifeLover

just an f.y.i. ...basically, give some thought to the hotel you stay at 'cause it will predict the crowd you'll be around. I know that it's "just a room and you'll only be using it for sleeping" but if you care about treating yourself, you will prob be using the pool, having a drink at the bar, playing a little and believe me, where you find all the "great deals" is where hundreds of other people find the great deals too, and unfortunately lots of times this means HUGE families with kids, and not so nicely kept premises....

if you really really really invest time on searching, (thats checking lots and lots of websites/calling hotels directly - yes time consuming but worth it) you may be able to find a good deal at Mandalay Bay (nice place for girls to party with a great spa) or something on that level at least...been going to vegas for years and can tell you, yes, you WILL have fun if you want to have fun, no matter where you stay, but personally, I've found that when it comes to eating extravagantly or staying at a nice hotel, it's definitely worth the extra cash on a nice hotel, and though it's "just for sleeping", I've never regretted spending the few extra dollars (if possible) for a nice place to stay, but I HAVE regretted staying at a-not-so-nice place just to save some cash......like I said, just f.y.i.

New York State of Mind

by ErinInMD

New York, New York is just a breezeway away from the MGM Grand - which makes it a very convenient hotel to walk through.

The outside with the mini Statue of Liberty is a must photo for anyone with a camera.

See the Mardi Gras parade at...

See the Mardi Gras parade at the Rio (and for 10.00 you can be in it). Also don't miss
Madam Tussauds Wax Museum at the Venetian. Characters are all around you and you
can sit or stand next to them, take pictures.....they're not hidden at all. Unlike any other
wax museum you've seen, I'm sure! Lions at the MGM. Many, many fond memories but one that sticks out in my mind is the Tournament of
Kings at the Excalibur. What a blast; dinner, audience participation. Makes you feel
like you are living in merry old England.

Wear sensible shues!

by skanda

If you want to see the hotels and casinos on the strip, plan where you want to go first. The strip is very long and the distance between the casinos must not be underestemated. Use the monorail if possible, or take your car. -
If you want to see the shows or extras, make sure you know when they start. We waited for 45 minutes at the vulcanos eruption, and that's a long time to be standing on the sidewalk! The show at the Treasure island is fun to see. So is the musical fountain at the Bellagio and the talking fountain inside Caesers. Don't fall for the gondola ride. It is a real tourist trap. Than again, that's Las Vegas!

Free Wireless Internet Access in Las Vegas

by virtualpatrick

I don't know specifically the free wifi situation in Las Vegas, but in the US there's free wifi in McDonald's and Starbucks Cafe.

I doubt there is free wifi in the casino resorts due to security reasons.
