More about Skylofts at MGM Grand

The Grandest of them All! MGM Grand!

by machomikemd

The MGM Grand Las Vegas, which opened in 1993, is a hotel casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, as a Hollywood themed resort. Owned and operated by the MGM Mirage company, the 30-floor main building is 293 feet (89 m) high and features five outdoor pools, rivers, and waterfalls that cover 6.6 acres,[1] a 380,000 square foot (35,000 m²) convention center, the MGM Grand Arena, CBS Television City, and the Grand Spa. It also houses numerous shops and night clubs, 16 restaurants, two food courts, and the largest casino in Las Vegas, which occupies 171,500 square feet (16,000 m²). The hotel rooms are located in several buildings including: The world's largest hotel building, with 5,044 rooms (4,293 rooms and 751 suites), The three The Signature at MGM Grand towers each with 576 suites, SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand with 51 lofts, The Mansion at MGM Grand with 29 villas. The MGM Grand is just that grand!

Everywhere you look information is pouring into your brain and you cannot quite figure out what’s going on. The signs tell you to go left and then right and then oh I’m confused. The hippest clubs, world class eating, amazing spa, large rooms and real life lions. If you want to see Las Vegas and completely immerse yourself in the culture there is no better place to do that than the MGM Grand. This is the mega-resort you have heard of. Upwards of 10 world class restaurants. Emeril’s New Orleans Fish house is definitely a place to visit as is Sea blue and Craftsteak., a Cirque du Soleil show and clubs and bars that will make you blush, make this resort one of the best in Las Vegas. You might never leave.

Located on the Tropicana - Las Vegas Boulevard intersection, pedestrians are not allowed to cross at street level. Instead, the MGM Grand is linked by overhead pedestrian bridges to its neighboring casinos: to the south across Tropicana Avenue, the Tropicana, and to the west across the Strip, the New York-New York.

MGM Mansion Las Vegas

"The velvet ropes"

I'm not rich or a big gambler by a long shot (pun intended) but sometimes though my extensive network of personal associations (haha) I'm able to peek into the playgrounds of the priviledged.

"And you thought the 29th floor penthouse was nice"

Snuggled next to the gleaming green glass expanse of the Las Vegas MGM Hotel and Casino sits one of the most luxurious and exclusive resorts in the world. So exclusive it only needs to be called "The Mansion." The Mansion is an Italian inspired home away from home for MGM's most valued customers. Entered through a separate gated entry off of Las Vegas Blvd. or through the Mansion Casino inside the MGM Casino, The Mansion features guest villas of several thousand square feet some complete with their own swimming pools. The Mansion facility has private restaurants, club rooms, viewing rooms, bars, spas and swimming pools.

"You keep reality, I'm staying"

Inside the four story covered atrium the sounds of a live string quartet might serenade you while the sweet fragrences of exotic flowers waft through the climate controlled air. As you pass by, every MGM staff member will stop what they're doing and say hello.

We did a meeting last year in Vegas and gathered a few local trivia facts from a Vegas source.

- Las Vegas has more hotel rooms than any other place on earth.
- Las Vegas has the majority of the largest hotels in the world.

But there was no mention that Las Vegas had the biggest hotel, although they have some MEGA places. I would think if they had the biggest, they would brag about it.

Well....the MGM Las Vegas seems to claim the distinction wit 5034 rooms...i that is the measure being used.

You'll find your answer here:

The MGM Grand currently ranks as the largest hotel in Las Vegas — and the world — with 5,000 rooms.

When I was in Vegas a few years ago I heard that the MGM had lost it's title to a new hotel in Singapore. However being Vegas I wouldn't be surprised if MGM added a few more rooms just to get it back so it could well be the MGM again now.

Cheers

From Wikipedia :
"The largest hotel in the world is the MGM Grand Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA with a total of 6,276 rooms[3] as of December 20, 2006. On December 18, 2006 Guinness World Records listed the First World Hotel in Genting Highlands, Malaysia[1] as the worlds largest hotel. It has a total of 6,118 rooms and is part of the Genting Highlands Resort and Casino. The First World Plaza which is joined to the two hotel towers boasts 500,000 square feet of indoor theme park, shopping centres, casino gaming areas, and eateries. Previously, Guinness had listed the MGM Grand Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA with 5,005 rooms as the largest hotel in the world.[2]"
So its one or the other depending on who you listen to.

I've also heard that the Asia Asia Hotel in Dubai will have 6,500 rooms but is not likely to be finished for about 4 years.

If any of you come this way stop off in kuala lumpor. take a 1 1/2 hour trip to genting highlands it has a casino and theme parks like a mini Disney land the rooms here are very cheap great place for children and adults. thanks again for the info looks as i might have to go to the bank for a loan. take care Grumphy in Aussie

Las Vegas luxury accommodation, opinions?

by kgr

Hello from a forum newbie, :-)

we (6 guys) are heading to Vegas in October to have a wild few days. :-) We'd want to have some kind of luxury accommodation on the Strip. It could be something like $1000 per night, but it'd have to be good value for money. Any ideas? Are there any suites that can accommodate 6 persons or do we have to take 2 suites or a suite+double?

Re: Las Vegas luxury accommodation, opinions?

The suites at the Bellagio are beautiful. I'm not sure how many people they hold, but some might be larger than the one we had a few years ago. It had 2 bathrooms which is handy. You can get a travel agent to find out all the details for you - some of the luxury hotels may have better deals than others.
