The main attraction of this hotel is the Stratosphere Tower. With its height of 1.149 feet it is the tallest freestandig observation tower of the United States.
From its observation deck you have a wonderful view on the whole city as well as the surrounding valley.
On top of the observation deck there is a roller coaster which is said to be the tallest of the world. What a thrill on this height!
I was booked into this hotel as part of a bus/coach tour, so I had no option as to the accomodation
I did some research, on this site and others and received conflicting reports. Some semd to hate it and had appalling rooms while others had a great time.
Well, I fall into the latter category. I found very little lacking (other than no safe in the room) and was satisfied with the room and the service I received.
Unique Quality: The real downside to this hotel is the fact that it is located at the far end of the Strip (in fact it's so far down, I hesitate to call it a Strip hotel). It's not really near any of the other hotels and you will need a car to visit those or, as I did, take a public bus.
The price is what make this an attractive proposition. You can get a reasonable stay at lower room rates than can be found elsewhere on the 'main' Strip.
On the other hand, if you are a player, you will find lower minimum table stakes here.
Directions: Far end of the Strip
Its huge hotel with casino, lika most of them in Las vegas, but have some special attractions.
Unique Quality: This hotels special attraction is the tower. Lift will take You to top for $8 or if You are a guest of the hotel, for $4.
The first time we took the 'free trip', we did upgrade for a couple hundred dollars and stayed at the Stratosphere. They gave us a complimentary upgrade to a room with a fridge and microwave and seating area with couch, chair, and coffee table. It was very nice.
I had checked on the prices for our next trip and could have gotten a room for $49/night---including a buffet meal for 2 and ride up to the lookout for 2.
Unique Quality: We had a view of the mountains, not the strip, but it still wasn't bad.
This hotel is at the far end of the strip which makes the prices somewhat friendlier then it would be to stay in the hotels in the center of the strip.
Lines at the check in can be very long, the might offer you room upgrades if there are specials.
The standard rooms are good enough for us, mostly better then hotel rooms in other tourist locations in the US. Weekend prices are higher.
Unique Quality: A very nice hotel with large and clean rooms. Has a swimming pool on the 24th floor. At the stratosphere tower you will have an excellent view over Vegas and also some thrill rides which will take you over the edge.

Unique Quality: At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest building west of the Mississippi. There are two thrill rides: The High Roller, the world's highest roller coaster and The Big Shot which is like a reverse bungee jump. The 12 story Stratoshere Tower Pod has outdoor and indoor observation decks which offer an incredible panoramic view of the city, the 360-seat 'Top of the World' revolving restaurant, a 220-seat cocktail lounge with the best view in town, and six meeting rooms. The hotel features a 97,000 square foot casino. The second level of the Stratosphere complex includes a 140,000 square foot retail, entertainment and restaurant area.

Unique Quality: Great views from the tower top. There's also the worlds tallest rollercoaster, plus the Screamer ride.
